Pump Question

I posted this in the LC thread as well but unfortunately time ran out before my question was answered.

I have a question regarding pumps -- After my question last week regarding painful BFing I went out and purchased a hand pump, but I'm having a bit of trouble with it.  I've used hospital grade pumps before when my daughter was in NICU and was able to keep the Medela piston that converts into a hand pump, I was able to pump with both without any issues. However, it's been difficult to pump with the new hand pump I just got. I'm not able to comfortably pump as it feels like there is too much suction and it just feels uncomfortable. Is there a way to fix this? I recall the piston having an adjustment but this hand pump does not.

Thank you in advance ladies for your help!

Re: Pump Question

  • I would think it would depend on the brand.  Is there a customer service number on the box?  I'd try contacting the manufacturer.

It's a Medela, if it matters. I'll try giving them a call tomorrow and see what they say.
