Cough syrup allergy?

Anyone ever had an allergic reaction to robitussin? I had to go to the ER Sunday night after taking it. My eyes were swelling shut and I had spots of swelling everywhere and itching. The ER dr looked at me like I was crazy, but he confirmed I was having a reaction to something. I mean, seriously, robitussin?

I'm allergic to codeine, I found out the hard way too.  An emergancy ER doc prescribed cough syrup w/ codeine.  My extremities swelled up and became numb. MAYBE there's an OTC version of codeine or a derivative that you are allergic to?

Well, the ER doc did prescribe a cough syrup with hydrocodone, but that wasn't in what I originally took. I haven't taken the Rx cough stuff yet because I have taken it before and it makes me high as a kite, and I have the girls home with me. Bummer, I could use it right now.

Sorry, I didn't see the answers to this until today. I'm on an Rx with codeine in it, so it's not codeine, thank goodness! I'm not going to take anymore OTC cough syrups. Three hours in the ER and passing out from the stupid Benadryl shot was enough for me. I'm a wimp.
