TTC after 35

Driving myself crazy with TWW

So no one else on earth knows that I'm TTC at 42 years old, well other than my hubby lol! In all honesty he doesn't want to hear about my worry and feelings about my ability to conceive at my age. Says it's a downer and I'm taking the fun out of the whole process.
It's our 3rd cycle TTC and last cycle i thought for sure i was pg because my body just felt different. When my AF arrived i was shocked! I had the heightened smell, felt warm all the time, fatigue etc. But no baby bean
I have 7 more days until AF is due and I'm constantly evaluating my bodily functions. Checking position of cervix, cm, temperature etc.... For any sign of pg! Well I feel totally normal!
even though I have already ovulated I continue to test with my opk because I have heard opk can give a positive reading if pg. So all in all I spend my days and nights reading all kinds of things on the Internet and evaluate and look for any possible symptoms. I feel nothing and I'm driving myself crazy!!!!!
Thank you all for listening! I have no one else to share this with do again thanks!

Are you charting? Checking your chart and seeing a possible implantation dip around 7 DPO is exciting. Doesn't happen every time, but does for many. You should try it and see :)
However-- the act itself of charting can be maddening because you are watching every temp and analyzing it.

    I wish you the best!

  • Not charting. That's new to me. What is implantation dip?
  • Implantation dip is a slight dip in your temperature around 7 days after ovulation.  Your temp is still above the cross hair, but it drops anywhere from about .02-.05 degrees give or take a few.

I'm sorry about the stir crazy feelings.  They can be a nightmare.  I had them too.  I found it easiest to try and keep myself busy.  When I wasn't working or busy, was when my craziness really hit.  Good luck!  Hopefully this will be your last 2WW.

  • Never mind looked it up. I don't know of I can be any more OCD than I already am but I guess anything is possible! Lol!
  • Thanks for Your reply lcwed!
  • Sorry the 2ww is driving you crazy. I have heard that about OPKs, but I believe they are not likely to give you a "positive" until after a pg test would. FX for you!

  • I'm sorry you're going through this, and I'm sorry your husband isn't being more receptive.  Hugs.

I think charting a couple of cycles would be a good idea, just to verify that your timing is right, but I have to respectfully disagree with the statement that it's fun!  If you're feeling a little obsessional, charting out your 2WW is just likely to add an additional layer of crazy.  The luteal phase chart interpretation game is a bit of a bummer, in my experience.  Also, there's a lot of disagreement as to whether implantation dips are actually a thing.  Here's a summary/defintition, but you definitely don't have to be pregnant to see a temp drop in your luteal phase.  I did most months when I was charting, and I obviously wasn't pregnant.

I hope you get your BFP sooner rather than later, but even if you don't, the good news is that the madness does start to dissipate.  Obsessive Googling, chart stalking, and symptom-spotting all just get kind of boring after enough cycles.  Hang in there, and good luck!

  • The TWW is maddening, that's for sure. I also recommend charting so you can make sure your timing is spot on - the best timing = the best chance to conceive each month. Unless you're charting, you really cannot be sure when you ovulate and whether or not your timing is actually spot on. Fertility Friend has a great app and tutorials to get your started so you know what you're doing.

I hate the phantom symptoms, and not to be a "Debbie Downer", but after 9 months of trying with one BFP (that ended in a chemical pregnancy), I have realized that PMS symptoms = pregnancy symptoms. It's better to learn this sooner than later because it will help you from over analyzing every single twinge.

Also, try not to get too caught up with looking for an implantation dip...these may or may not happen, pregnancy or not. And it's just another thing that can make you batty! My temp always has some sort of dip around 5-10 days after ovulation, on pregnant and non-pregnant cycles.

  • I've heard more women say that they had all these symptoms, only to get a BFN at the end.  On the flip side, so many women notice nothing and end up prego.  It's so easy to over analyze every twinge and feeling we have.  Sorry - wish I had more words of wisdom for you on how to cope.  Good luck!
  • Tww of hell. Try to be calm, two weeks goes pretty quickley. But yes it's very stressful
  • You girls are fantastic! Thanks for your support. I'm 8 DPO now. I'm going to try to stop obsessing. ..yeah right, lol! I'm off for the next 4 days so time to do something fun! Again thank you for listening. I feel better and not so crazy!
