Should I worry?

So my friends daughter, 5 months old, crosses her legs frequently. During her four month check up the doctor asked her if she does that frequently, but at the time my friend didn't notice it and said no. The doctor didn't say anything else about it, friend told her DH about it and that's when he mentioned her doing that frequently. I looked it up on google of course and found lots of stuff about delayed developmental functions and cerebral palsy. Now my DH and I noticed our DD crossing her feet at her ankles and of course it's freaking us out. Still have a month until her 4 month check up, so just wondering if anyone else has had this experience. Or if I just need to get off of doctor google and enjoy all the new things DD is doing. Thanks for any advice!

Re: Should I worry?

  • I would think crossing one's legs is just a natural thing. I've seen tons of babies cross their legs. We cross our legs as adults. I wouldn't worry about it.

  • I wouldn't worry! My dd crosses at the ankles every once in awhile and the dr has told me she is advanced with all the stuff she does so im not worried!
  • Thank you for the reassurance. FTM so I tend to worry about everything. She's doing all the other "milestones" so I'm just going to enjoy my cute baby girl ;-). Thank you again!

  • I worry about everything too and it is normal to worry! It sucks
  • Step away from Dr Google! If you are truly concerned then call his IRL doctor. Honestly though, leg crossing is pretty normal. My dd crosses her legs at the ankles all the time while nursing. And also, even if she has developmental delays, it isn't the end of the world (my DS has some pretty notable dev delays).

  • Nothing to worry about. There are much bigger signs of CP than that
