Need car seat help desperately!

Reese has been for the last 3-4 weeks sliding the chest piece down to her stomach. We talk about safety, she knows it makes us upset, but she tells us that it hurts up there. Truthfully I think it may bother her by her chest, because she is super sensitive to anything pushing/rubbing her port (which is in her chest).

Any ideas to keep her from pushing it down?

  • The button up shirt trick is the only safe deterrent.  I know it sucks but beyond that, you have to treat it like any other undesirable action and stop, fix, talk, punish if necessary, repeat :(

  • Thanks--she has done it in the Britax Marathon and I forget what seat my parents have. I mean, she usually does comply eventually in the car ride, but it is with a lot of whining and trying to convince me to let her keep the chest buckle lower.

  • I was also wondering if adding some type of padding on her chest would help. Is there an advocate at your hospital you could ask for suggestions? Maybe other parents have had similar issues and they might have a tested solution.

  • Are you on Car Seats for the Littles?  There are special needs techs on there who deal with medical situations and ways to work around some issues.
