My husband feels strongly about avoiding "trendy" names and going with something timeless for our son. The issue is that a lot of our favorite old fashioned ancestor's names are now the trend. Here are our top 3
Purely from a trend perspective, Henry is the most "timeless" name here. It does go in and out of fashion, but even when it is out, it has never dropped out of the top 150 names in the US (dating back to 1880).
Owen has been much less popular for much of the past century, even dropping out of the top 500 for a few years in the 1960s-1970s.
Maxwell has had even lower lows, sometimes dropping out of the top 1000. Maxwell is also a tricky one to measure in terms of popularity because of all the kids named Max and Maximilian.
I really like all of your names, but my favorite is Owen. However, I think Owen is the trendiest of all of them. I think Henry is probably the most timeless.
I love all your names but voted for Owen, I've been crushing on Owen lately. Honestly though, James is my favorite and I would use that as a first name.
In addition to Henry James being a writer, I know 3 boys under the age of 6 named "Henry James." I adore the name Henry, but is there some sort of secret code I don't know about which requires the use of James as a middle name?

Baby Name Popularity by State
If you're going for timeless, have you perused Greek/Scandinavian/Hebrew names? Less common, definitely old, with roots and history.

I know lots of posters can expand this list immensely, But here are some not too "out there" suggestions.
