This is freaking insane and I want it so bad!!

  • OMG that looks AMAZING. I love the function that tells you when they will wake up! And if it's too loud! Life would be so grand if I knew these things. But holy cow $300?!

  • We just paid $250 for a standard wireless baby monitor. I think $300 for all that info is worth it for me. If it were available now I would get it but it's not going to be around until March 2015.
  • If it were coming out when H was a newborn I would be on this. It sounds great. Maybe for the next one. :)
  • I'm in the "less-is-more", audio-only monitor camp over here, too. It's gotten us through two babies so far.

  • Less is more in my house. I don't even own a baby monitor. I've never felt like I needed one. We co-sleep, and my house isn't very big. It would take me less time to go check on my baby than it would to open an app.

I get the minimalist point of view and I'm all for it if it keeps you sane. I also agree this does not replace all the safety precautions and due diligence you need to do to check in on your child.

However, I do wake up many times and watch my baby like a hawk and wonder if he is breathing right, if I should move his position or is that just stuffy nose or something else is going on. Also, K has always been a lousy napper/sleep at night. It would be awesome to get an idea of his sleep patterns to help him sleep better.

I'm all for if there is technology that helps me understand our bodies better we should use it! Andplusalso, I freaking love when I see patterns and stats and insights into how my baby is doing. Heck I would love if I could learn that about myself just so I can get healthier.
  • I've never used monitors of any kind with my kids. But OH EM GEE! I'd love this thing. I really think it would just be cool so I could peacefully take a shower during nap time and know that M was still asleep. I probably wouldn't have LO wear it all the time, just when it was needed.

In the end though, you won't see me buying one because I'm a minimalist. But it's definitely an awesome concept.

You can do that with a normal monitor...
Which is why I wouldn't be buying this thing. ;)
  • I can see the appeal, not sure if I'd use it.

I am not a minimalist.   Oh wait, was that not a poll question?

  • They have these too. https://www.owletcare.com/
I don't like the idea of "your baby is going to wake up in about 45 minutes" because yeah right who can predict THAT? I do like how it monitors breathing and heart rate, skin temps and stuff.

  • @Missy0483‌ I think the sleep indicator is based on the science if REM and non REM sleep. Since it monitors heart rate, my understanding is that a babies heart rate changes when they move into REM sleep hence alerting the parent that waking up can happen anytime soon. I think that might help in earlier months where sleep cycles are erratic or for a child that has sleep issues. At the moment at 6 months I can pretty much tell nap times 80% of the time no device needed!
