painting a crib

Has anyone painted a crib before? I am guessing I could use regular paint but thought I would ask around. I bought a used crib and it had some stains/crayon marks. I tried scrubbing but stains are still really visible and its a white crib. Probably easier to just paint it. I wish I knew what brand it was bc I would call the manufacture but I don't. TIA
