or Leonardo Jason (Leo as a nn). I'm still going back and forth though about just officially naming him Leo since I do like that a bit more than the whole name. I'm just wondering if for his whole life people will be like, "Oh, is that short for Leonardo or Leonard" and little dude will have to reply, "No, it's just Leo". I know, I'm overthinking it.
My nephew is Leo and I love that it is not Leonardo as he will never go by that. Once he had the name Leo, it didnt feel like a nn at all!
No and its kind of scaring me, with ds we had a name picked out waybefore we were ready to have kids. I had a couple of girl backup names but no other boy names so I keep trying to think of a name as good as one that I had for ds, dh and I both liked it immediately and there was no need to consider it. It's stressful, I know I have monthsbuthad ds manner for years before he was born!
We like family names so Eliizabeth and Samuel are the current front runners... but nothing is set in stone yet. Definitely plan to seriously discuss names after the AS (mid sept).
Last Time: I thought we had decided on DS' name weeks before he was born, but DH started throwing around other suggestions on the way to the hospital! Talk about stressful!!
Haha it was kabbalarian name consulting for a 'balanced' name... Really embarrassing, it's like horoscopes but we were desperate, could not agree on the final name so getting the consultant was actually pretty helpful and interesting.
We are set on a name. I am sort of relieved we aren't having a boy. My husband wanted to name the boy Axl. Our last name is the name as a famous singer who recently named her boy Axl. *shudder*
We decided on Caroline Ray for our girl. I am surprised to see a few moms to be also wanting to give their daughter's the middle name of Ray.
We considered Ray as a middle name. My Papa was Raymond and went by Ray. In the end, we decided to go in a different direction, but it makes me smile to see others using it.
We have not discussed names yet, I like family names.... know from whence you've come and all that. His other children have gender neutral names (which I dont care for... but they werent mine and these are) I am think to get our mother's names and my grandmother's names. Maybe Mary Anna and Catherine Charlene. And that takes us back to we haven't discussed it yet. My aunt does geneology and I may pull from some of the family trees she has written up :-)
We are undecided on names. For a boy, we would use Richard for a middle name (my dad and FIL's name), but no clue on first name. For a girl, Virginia for a middle name (2 grandmothers and my MIL). DH likes Abigail Virginia, and I kind of think that sounds too colonial Williamsburg. Also I don't like Abigail because my roommate in college had an awful dog named Abby. I could deal with it if "Ava" is the nickname. But also DS' name is John, and John and Abigail might be weird for brother and sister since John and Abigail Adams were husband and wife.
Because we are having a boy we have a name: Joseph Thomas. My husbands uncle passed away and they were very close, his name was Joseph so we are chose that as away to honor him. Thomas was my maiden name. If it was a girl we would probably still have no idea!!
We don't know the sex yet so we haven't really talked about it too much yet. We do know we like Cade for a boy. And I would love it to be Cade Brandon (Brandon after my cousin who passed away tragically 7 years ago), but we need to talk to my aunt about that. It would be a middle name and we wouldn't call him Brandon, but I don't want to do anything that will upset her, since his death was very tragic and awful. Just want to honor his memory. We also like Teague for a boy, but its more of a last name around here, so I don't know about that.
For a girl, ZERO CLUE!! Although I do like Laurel, so thank you to whoever mentioned that
DH suggested the name Alexander on our way out from the Gender Check (That's the company's name for it!). Since Alexander was on my short list of boys names that I picked out in high school, we were set. Having trouble deciding on a middle name, but im pushing for James, which was my dad's name.
Me: 34 DH: 28. Married Jan 2012. Started TTC Jan 2014. Got our first BFP April 28th. Baby Boy Born: December 24 2014
We had a first girl name and partial middle have had it for years. Boy names are quite up in the air, a few leftovers from other pregnancies that we like but don't quite sing. We often decide on a couple up to the birth. Hubs and I throw names around here and there but he doesn't get too serious or involved until about 38 weeks.
Still immune to tickers.
Polite Canadian 99% of the time.
SAHM of 7 soon to be 8. I read more than I post.
We are team green, but we have our names picked out (I think):
Boy: Korbin Ray
Girl: Koraline (nn Kora) Raye
My middle name is Raye and our first DS has my husband's middle name. I know people really hate changing C's to K's, but it is a tradition in my husband's family to have a K name (which I know people hate that too- but I kind of like it so we stuck with it).
I built a spreadsheet that now has...63 girl names (first names only). DH and I score each name independently, and then I average our scores and then deduct points for huge differences in our scores (if I score a name a 10 and he scores it a 3, then it shouldn't be a contender). Then the spreadsheet compiles a list of our top ten. Right now, at the top of the list are:
Elliot
Evey
Cleo
Dylan
Evie
Chloe
Jocelyn
Lilith
Macy
Audrey
*Sigh* We will never get there.

This is a neat site I just now stumbled upon. I'm finding I love some nicknames, like Edie and Winnie, but am not loving the full names that traditionally accompany them. This site gives some other ways to get to that nickname.
Well... we still have a long list of 15 names for girls and for boys. It's going to be hard to narrow it down, but i'll probably be based on what sounds better with the mn we're likely going with.
TTC #1 since March 2011
BFP #1: EDD 4/16/13~~blighted ovum w/ 2 gestational sacs~~Loss on 9/18/12 BFP #2: EDD 9/3/13~~Slow HB at 1st U/S~~MMC -Loss on 2/13/13
9/13, 10/13, 1/14: letrozole + trigger + TI = All BFNs
We aren't really picking names or discussing until we know if we are having a boy or a girl. I have short lists for both though. I think we will be able to settle on a boy name easier than a girl name.

I could hold you for a million years
to make you feel my love.
@ladyamanuet You can check the popularity of a name in the US on the Social Security website here. Below the top 10 list is the search by name or year. It's kind of fun looking through the list for recent years.
We are not even close to deciding on a name. Every discussion devolves into who can come up with the most ridiculous name. Which is why our baby will be named Taco Cat or Ritzel.
We aren't telling family/friends are names but since it's all anonymous here, and I'd love the feedback, I'll write it here: for a boy we are doing Walter Joseph, and for a girl we are doing Lucyna Isabelle (nn Lucy). All names are easily translated to Polish, which was important for us. I'm still not 100% sold on Lucy's middle name as I feel like six syllables is a mouthful, but it's what we have so far.
With my girls i had a hard time finding names but decided on english surnames as first names as im english and french and he is english girls would have a english last name worked out well... This one oh boy! new dad hes german and french both our last names are french im just not sure where to go lol so i will just let it be until i see him/her i guess

There is actually a poster on TB who had something similar happen. Her husband wouldn't have a serious conversation about names and would suggest ridiculous things. One day he suggested Pterodactyl and in a rage she said, "Fine, that's it. Discussion over. His name is Pterodactyl!" Well for the rest of the pregnancy, that was his nick name, and when he was born, they struggled to part with it, so they actually made it his middle name. His name is under his picture (or a ticker) in her siggy. Most people assume it's a nick name or pet name, but nope-- it's really his middle name.
I wish I could remember her screen name so I could tag her and not just talk about her "behind her back" lol.
P.S. I know I already commented, but for those of you stuck, it's ok! Some of you have at least another 20 weeks! (Right at 20 for some of the early EDDs, if they come exactly on time)
I only know because I LOVE names and I just can't stop thinking about them. The cats we currently have are my first pets ever, which is possibly why I have no qualms about already having names lined up for the next potential cats we have... (Current cats are Teto and Gremlin. Next pair would be Koopa and Moogle.)

This is me, too. My husband thinks I'm crazy to want baby girl's name finalized now, but I just do! So many people wait until the baby is born before they decide, and that is totally fine!
@LadyXaverian does the first name of the boy you are thinking of start with a J? I think I know who the poster you are referring to is if that's it. Er, I have it narrowed down to two as I'm mobile and can't see sigs at the moment
Yes, that's him. He's a cutie. I am in no way criticizing her name choice. Just a little anecdote for those of you who are in a similar situation that she was in with having a hard time getting her husband to take the name conversation seriously.
We've had the boys name picked out since we started trying to get pregnant a year and a half ago! And we had to buy a baby name book for the girls name.
Julian Alexander- if it's a boy Ellie Grace- if it's a girl
Honestly. I grew up obsessed with Knight Rider. KITT was my obsession. Also I love double letters in names. My name is Tiffany.
I really wanted to name my girl Kitt but when I looked it up the only Kitt I found was a boy name.. so I decided that would be a middle name. Still will nickname my daughter (if it's a daughter) Kitt though.
Re: How close are you to choosing a name?

Cooper Alan
Kade William
The middle names are for our dads.
Hubs nixed that for us though bc of Downtown Abbey.
We'll think about it more when we know the sex.
Boy: Landen Mitchell
Girl: Lauren Skye
I will find out 2 weeks from today!
