FTM toy question...

What are your LOs playing with? What developmental toys are you using?


My guy can play for hours on the kick and play piano, and isn't a big fan of sitting in the bumbo yet.

Just curious and online shopping at the same time

We're using the o ball and I just ordered the Manhattan Winkel toy. Ds is more interested in looking around that toys at the moment. His grasping has just started. He's kinda meh on rattles.

He used to be big on his mobiles but now he's showing less interest in laying down. He wants to sit up and see everything!

I do use a mirror too. He loves that!

We have these exact ones also...I got them with DS1 and now DS2 is using them. They have been a success with both boys! I also really love the Baby Einstein handheld classical music player that lights up....can't link but it is at Target for like $10.

DS2 is 10 weeks and not terribly interested in anything other than looking around or looking at us and his big brother. He occasionally likes looking into mirrors or the mobile that comes with the pnp or play yard thing.

My LO likes the kick and play piano mat a lot. He's slowly getting used to the bumbo. And he also likes the Lamaze toy I have. He loves grabbing the toys and whipping them around. LO will be 12wks tomorrow.

This is DD's absolute favorite! She will watch it and smile at it for hours. She also loves her OBall and this Eric Carle Hungry Caterpillar toy.

DS likes Sophie, any toys with mirrors and he is slowly getting into toys that make the crinkle noise, but He is more fond of chewing on his hands, trying to grab his feet and looking for mommy and daddy over any toy.

I'm a crunchy weirdo so anything she puts in her mouth is organic or wooden. She does like the kicknplay and her mirrors tho. Etsy has the best wooden teethers and I love Under the Nile organic toys if you are interested on that kind of thing.

Almost every toy I own is wooden or Montessori. I still need to take a photo of his room

I was debating buying the kick n play piano since I already have a skip hop play mat. She likes laying on her mat, but do you think I need both? The piano seems to be a hit.

Got the piano at a consignment sale for $5. Best thing I have bought DS so far. He will play for HOURS. He just figured out how to actually grab the toys and not just bat at them so he'll get a death grip on them and swing them around as he kicks the piano part. It looks like little baby seizures lol he normally wears himself out and goes down for a 2-3 hour nap right after

@laurblum‌ I was starting to think I was the only person without the kick in play! I hadn't heard of it before but it sounds like I need to check it out.

DS absolutely loves the light up musical star on his baby Einstein playmat. He laughs and has conversations with it for ages. He really doesn't care about the music, it's the lights he loves. I need to get him more light up toys. He also likes the lamaze squid (captain calamari), the moose he cares less about.

Dd is Also really living her play mat. I got some extra links and hang her o ball from it. She loves to try and grab it and swing it around. If i give ut to her on her bumbo tray she cant stay grasped on to it so thats why i like to hang it fromyhe top of her mat that way she cant drop it and gets lots of practice trying to grab ut and hold on to it! Also anything thst crinkles is a big hit! Almost 14w

Odds are they will. This is after about two hours (I got to make lunch and clean) . He was out like light.

I was thinking of posting a thread just like this yesterday but didn't have any time to bump. Thank you all for recommendations!

So far (DD was exactly. 3 months yesterday) she isnt very into toys. So happy to read she isnt the only one since of course i worry if she is delayed or something! She plays with her hands a lot and likes looking at books with me. Mostly she seems to love people's faces and is at her best when I take her somewhere where people ooh and ah and smile at her and she can smile and do other cute things back. She also liked to go outdoors and look at things but isn't very interested in touching or different textures yet. Her favorite play space (better than her activity mat) is the keekaroo changing pad! I use it on the floor so I don't have to worry about her falling and can go to the sink if I need to. She will get going kicking and scooching and waving her arms and babbling and having a great time. It's just about the only place she will play independently for a few minutes - everywhere else she wants pretty constant attention /interaction.

Right now we only have toys people gave us and an activity mat I bought from a coworker. I've been thinking we need more even though she isnt too into toys yet but am not sure what to get ... partly for safety/ health (I'm a crunchy mostly organic one too and almost bought some plastic links last time I was at target because they'd been on a list of OT recommended toys for babies but then I thought about them going in her mouth and there was no labeling about bpa, phthalates, etc and I think were made in China and even though hard plastic doesn't even have those thngs usually I just couldn't. ) and partly its hard to tell what she'll like. I guess maybe that piano mat ....

Toots loves her kick and play as well. She just started swatting at that one, as before she had already started grabbing on her other one. She loves the mirror. I have a ball with a ton of holes in it which I hand to her and she will grab a hold of but she is still hasn't mastered the grasp of things on her own.

Same.  GToys will come with time.  I don't push them, I let them discover on they're own.

Someone mentioned light up toys, Eli adores his Lamaze flower pot it has two settings when you hit it the flowers light up and sing lol he's always amazed!

I still haven't caved on the piano mat (she has a play mat and likes it a lot), but I went out and bought the Oball rattle, and she loves it! I don't know if I would have thought to hang it from her activity mat, but I did that, and she is really enjoying it. Thanks to all who suggested it!
