Illness and the 2WW

I'm finally recovering from my most recent cold, and I'm curious whether anyone else has noticed that they get sick more while TTC.

I've gotten colds something like four out of the six cycles we've been trying, and I always get them between 5-8 dpo.  I've read that Early Pregnancy Factor is an immune suppressant, so I wonder if eggs are getting fertilized (which makes sense because both our timing and DH's sperm are great) but not implanting (which makes sense because my eggs are crappy).  We have a 13-month-old in daycare, so there's no shortage of germs around, but my husband never gets whatever I have, and I wasn't getting sick for the first few months she was there--only after we started TTC.  That's my theory, and yet another reason I cannot wait to be done trying, one way or another.

Anyway, anyone else experiencing anything like this?

Well...I can say when I was pregnant with both my kids, I had the sniffles. I was only 7-8 DPO, and my nose was running. I guess that is actually an early sign of pregnancy.

Other than that-- I never noticed an actual full-on cold.

Here is some info on it:

"It may never occur to you that a runny or stuffy nose could be connected with being pregnant, but many women experience cold or flu-like symptoms in early pregnancy. This is due to higher levels of estrogen during pregnancy which can cause swelling in the mucous membranes throughout the body, including the nose."

No.  I'm sorry you are not feeling well, hope you get better quickly!  Is it possible you're a little more stressed while ttc and body is worn out fighting off stress/ can't deal with stress of fighting off a cold?  Just a thought.

Thanks!  I'm sure the stress of TTC isn't helping (stress never does), but I think it's weird that it happens at exactly the same time every cycle...

I haven't experienced that but I agree the stress or 2ww anxiety can wear you down.

I would wear a bubble all the time if I could! I used to teach pre-k and oh my! I had very dry hands due to all the hand washing I did.

I always feel extra worn down in the 2WW...I just assumed it was the hormonal shift.

I haven't experienced anything like that but sounds like a plausible explanation!
