Ripe, fresh figs, preferably picked early in the morning and consumed with coffee and young cheese while sitting by the sea. In absence of those, crepes made with an extra egg, filled with chocolate sauce, ground almonds and a dash of salt.
Wow, that brings back some great memories! In my early 20's, I splurged on a bike tour while backpacking in Europe. I actually stayed with a French couple who would make crepes for breakfast every morning. Then while out riding we would snack on chocolate croissants and fresh figs. Of course lunch always included a local cheese.
I'm not normally a huge foodie, so that week really stands out as probably the best I've ever eaten.
