Anxious about having baby #2

I've read a number of posts from ladies expressing the anxiety and worry about having baby #2...especially for those of us about to have 2 under 2!
I read this yesterday and thought I would share. She's got some really good advice in there and it will help ease your nerves!

This was a great article and really got me thinking back to what it was like when I brought home my second.  My favorite quotes:

It’s totally acceptable to give a solid throat-punch to anyone who tells you sleep when the baby sleeps, and then remove them from the tribe. 

Two, when one is under 5 and the other is an infant, is more like baby + cracked out herd of goats.

YOU are no ordinary mommy.  YOU are a baby-care ninja.

Seriously, my anxiety level was pretty high before I had my 2nd (DS was 18 months) and the first two weeks home I was a little extra hormonal trying to find solid footing on how to manage both of their needs but we acclimated very quickly and everyone was fine!  All of you are going to do an amazing job and the bond that you will get to see grow between your kids is one of the most amazing things ever (it almost makes up for the wrestling matches :P)

You say anxious, I say TERRIFIED! lol DS will be 20 months if I make it to term with this LO. I had a pretty yucky case of PPD and breastfeeding was a nightmare and I am dreading the undoubted repeat occurrence of both.

Great article!  I wholeheartedly agree with this quote:

Bonus tips: 1) If people show up and act like guests instead of like normal, helpful humans, put them to work.  You can ask pretty much anyone to do pretty much anything if you add, “For the baby” to the end of your request.

I could not believe how many times my family showed up to spend all of a Saturday/Sunday visiting us with baby #1 and expected us to have lunch & dinner planned for them!  This time around I am keeping some easy boxed meals on hand to put them to work cooking when they come over.  Or at least send them out for Subway

I went to a PPD support group just to scout it out (had a referral from my OB) and was happy to hear one mom say that the best thing in her life right now is her older child.  It made me feel a little bit better.  

I was silly and didn't do anything to address PPD the first time around - I hope you're able to get a support system in place!  Fingers crossed it doesn't happen again!

ClrkKntismyAE I worry about this all the time and then I worry about it the other way around too. Like we'll be too busy paying attention to DD and all of the amazing things she is learning and doing that we'll neglect the newborn
It really does make you wanna break out in tears!! But from everything I've heard we'll have enough love to go around to them both... *sigh*.... I sure hope so!!
