TTC after 35

OPK positive?

This is my first time using an OPK. I may have jumped the gun but I used the first morning pee and got a positive mark. Just to be sure, I did it again about 6 hours later and got a negative. Considering I am on cycle day 15 and had O pains yesterday, which would you go by, the + or -?

The LH surge, which OPKs track, is usually fairly short. I know I'll sometimes have a surge in the morning and it's negative by afternoon.

I'd do some Business Time both today and tomorrow:

Me: 38 DH: 40 TTC#1 (and likely only) since 9/13. Saw RE 5/14, SA good, AMH 2.36, FSH 7.2, estradiol 69.6 indicating good egg reserve. Using OPKs. First Letrozole cycle 6/14, a burst cyst and a BFN. Second Letrozole cycle 7/14, BFN.

Update 11/14 - had laparoscopy 10/28, good news is that my uterus and left tube look good, and they were able to drain the cyst on my left ovary. Bad news is that right tube and ovary have endo and scar tissue, so they're pretty useless.. Best news is that we finally have some answers and a path forward. Taking 7.5 mg letrozole CD 2-6 to put that good left ovary through its paces.

UPDATE 2/2015 - We switched to another fertility clinic, but fortunately we don't have to start all over. We're doing two cycles of Clomid plus IUI, if neither of those take, we'll do IVF in April, potentially with ICSI. (DH's SA has gone downhill, likely due to excessive exercise.) IUI#1 2/25/15....
  • Omg that video is awesome.

  • I'd say the positive was a positive.  Def get busy NOW!  B/c the surge can be so short, I sometimes test up to 3 times a day.  Yes, a tad excessive, but oh well.
  • Depending on the brand, some brands recommend not using the first morning urine as you can get a false positive. Ive heard that testing between 10am - 2pm is often effective. I use 2 different OKP's, one clear blue fertility monitor for the first try, then a cheapie brand in the early evening (just to make sure I dont miss it!)
Ive also noticed that as ovulation gets closer the test line starts slowly getting darker, then I have 1-2 days with it the same colour as control, then 1 day with it darker than control, then it lightens up again after that to the same colour for a day, then disappears (or is extremely faint).
    :)
