Packing lunch for daycare

So, the boys are starting daycare for the first time in just over a week. (DS1 did go for a few months as an infant, but they've had nannies since).

So, some things I have to do for my 2yr-old:
* pack a fitted sheet and a blanket
* pack a lunch every day
* extra clothes
* sleep friend if wanted

We don't have crib sheets, except S's $30 Land of Nod sheets (gifted!), which won't be going to daycare. A also has an A&A nap blanket, which also won't be going. Any suggestions as to cheap sheets and blankets?

What the heck do I pack for the kid to eat? Please share any suggestions of easy pack-the-night-before lunches. We have a Skip Hop zoo lunch box.

And if you let your kiddo have a sleep friend - does it go back and forth every day? Along the same lines, should we just buy a Wubbanub for S to keep there, too?

I'm kinda freaking out because I'm starting work a week earlier than I thought.

Re: Packing lunch for daycare

  • Get a couple of cheap sheets from Target or Walmart. I think they are like $8-10. Those are the ones I send to DC since it is not a huge deal if they get lost/stained.
    For lunch I do a main, veggie and fruit.
    Things I usually sent are grilled cheese, turkey sandwiches, chicken nuggets, meat loaf, chicken and rice, quesidilla and black beans, ravioli, broccoli, peas, grapes, cherries, green beans, scrambled eggs and toast, peaches, pears, pinapple.

  • On the weekends, I whip up a batch of broccoli-cheese muffins and put them in the freezer.  DD loves them, and I love that they have veggies in them.  When I need something quick for lunch, I take out a couple of those.  Otherwise, I give her leftovers from dinner.  I also usually pack some fruit too like grapes or blueberries.
