Nursing in designer threads?

What do we think about this?  I think it's great that she can encourage breastfeeding, but I feel like the overly made up, super fancy dress and naked baby are a little bit much.  I get that it's for Glamour, but eh, nms.  If you're for nursing as part of a regular day for a kid, how about you take a regular picture of yourself nursing?  I feel like that would empower far more women than this does.

I feel like the magazine is trying to capitalize on the "normalize breastfeeding" trend at the moment by combining it with a glamour/fashion shot. Not all bad when you consider that exposure is really what the whole "normalizing" trend seems to need to accomplish it's goal, and considering that even though the model/celebrity may not be the intended audience (aka mainstream women), the readership very well may be.

Other than that, I pity the dry cleaner who has to get Lansinoh out of that sequented bodice.

I appreciate breastfeeding being put out there, but I can't help but think Glamour is trying too hard to make it sound editorial, provocative and potentially controversial photo shoot.

I'd prefer a tasteful, topless photo of a mom nursing, any day. I would have found that to have more of an impact. Breastfeeding is absolutely one of the most natural things you can do, but this photo doesn't highlight the natural, it looks staged and forced to me.

But otherwise, cute baby!

I guess I think Glamour is a ridiculous vehicle for this message. Anytime I read the magazine, it's nothing but tips on how to give a good blow job and cooking a chicken to get your guy to propose to you.

Vogue, Elle, Vanity Fair, I could see it. But Glamour... meh.

Nursing in heals... Haha! My back hurts just looking at it. Plus my leg will not be able to balance the LO because she fusses at my boobs and starts throwing her arms and legs up.

Anyway, like many PPs said... It's Glamour.

This reminds me of the picture Giselle Bündchen had late last year/early this year I believe. It was not for a magazine spread but actually showed her getting ready for a shoot and while getting her hair, nails and make up done, she was nursing her little girl. That was way more of an impact on putting BF'ing out there.
But yes, as previously stated, It's Glamour.

Nursing often induces poop here. No thanks. The only time Max is nekid is the run from his changing table to the sink for his bath and there is no dillydallying there fo sho. [-O<

Love the picture.  It's a beautiful, unabashed look at BFing.  Makes me want to take some BFing pics of me and DD (didn't take any from DS).  However, the first thing I thought when I looked at the photo was "that naked baby is going to poop all over that fancy dress".

I would have loved a real world shot where she has one or both boobs hanging out of a nursing tank while changing a diaper. Or being hooked to a pump while wearing that gorgeous dress.

She does say that she doesn't look like that while nursing normally. And that a diaper is involved. I like the picture a lot. She was working, maybe the baby needed to eat and that's how the picture even happened?

I've lost all my baby weight but my body is so misshapen I couldn't wear regular clothes if I wanted to. And even still, I don't own anything particularly nice, LOL!

I thought it was a great picture. Bravo to Glamour for taking a five minute break from sex to publish this shot. Maybe it will inspire someone to consider BFing one day or not be so freaked out about it.

I second this.  It's one less "How to have a better orgasm article".  I don't really care if she was wearing a $5 Gap shirt or a $5000.00 dress.  It doesn't change the message IMO.
