Pregnant after IF

IUI success stories?

Anybody have success with IUI and MFI? DHs numbers were really bad, 1.7 mill post wash. We're considering IVF, but DH is going to a Urologist first. We went ahead with our first IUI on Monday despite his horrible numbers. My RE said you never know, she has seen success with such low numbers, you just need one. Just looking to try to give myself some hope and find a success story while in this dreaded 2ww.

Re: IUI success stories?

  • Thanks I'm not emotionally ready for IVF but I'm 38 so time is an issue. I do have my DH on vitamins, I'm thinking of adding some along with what he's taking.

Not a IUI sucess story, but we were severe MFI and ended up jumping straight to IVF with ICSI. We had really low SA numbers, too (even lower, though - 0.3 mil., I think) and the RE said we would be wasting our time with IUI, even though they would have been covered by insurance. Depending on what DX your DH gets, there might be some treatment to raise his numbers and make IUIs a more feasible option. My DH was put on follitism, which did nothing, but apparently works for some. And while you wait for more definitve answers, why not try it? That said, I am glad that we made the decision to pursue IVF. It was a hard one, but knowing that we were doing all we could. I did not feel ready for IVF when we started either. Have you tried over at the IF board? There are a lot of amazing women there, quite a number dealing with MFI DXs. Talking to some of them helped me come around to IVF. FX that you don't need it and that IUIs give you the miracle you are looking for.

  • We are an IUI success story w/ MFI! DH had mild MFI.. his count started out normal, but his motility was 50% and morph was 3% (then lowered to 2%). We put him on Coq10 & Fertilblend for 3 months and did 3 IUI's.. 3rd one was the charm. He had his lowest count of 4.2 mil post wash, but motility went up to 70%.I had 3 follies w/ a close 4th and we're having twins! Feel free to message me if you have any questions! Good luck!

  • Our IUI worked first time :) DH is fine and healthy but i have PCOS which means really erratic AF. Tried for a year with no luck so went with chlomid 25mg D2-6 and hcg shot. Had the IUi and got a BFP 2 weeks later. Im 5w2d atm. Good luck!
  • 500,000 post wash resulted in a pregnancy?? Wow. I know it only takes one, but I don't have time to sit around and wait for a miracle......moving on to IVF!!!
