How long do these fruits last after packing? Because it was over 2 weeks ago when they decided to stop packing them. I feel like this info is too late ya know?
My husband bought nectarines last week but I didn't eat a single one because of this whole listeria thing. Our grocery store isn't one of the affected, but I don't want to take any chances. Fresh fruit is my only pregnancy craving for real, so this is tough. Cantaloupe and watermelon it is!
I had a nectarine the week before the whole thing broke out, and I was freaked. But...the amount that they found in the original detection (in Australia) was very low--low enough to still sell in Australia by quite a lot. US has a no tolerance policy for listeria, so they notified the US. The original thread about this has a breakdown of this info that really helped calm me down. (Even though I randomly barfed yesterday which freaked me out again).
Sooo this is only in California? I'm confused. :-/
No no. Its nationwide. Its stemming from a packaging company in California that ships all over the US.
@MrsSinner402 Oh ok that's not good. Well do they specify what grocery stores they supply to? Or we assume its all if them? I've been eating peaches like it's no ones business.

I believe they did in the original recall. My grocery store wasn't listed, but I know the nectarines I was eating came from California. Not even this company, but I still wouldn't eat them. Now I'm too scared to buy any fresh fruit. UGH.
Don't know how accurate this is but just saw an article that says ...
The company distributes their products to Sam's Club, BJ's Wholesale Club, Trader Joe's, Stop & Shop, Whole Foods, Costco and a number of other large food retailers.
"Consumers can identify the recalled products by the information provided in the attached photographs. The recalled products include the following brands marketed to consumers: Sweet 2 Eat, Sweet 2 Eat Organic, Mrs. Smittcamp’s, and are also packed in private labels. These brands will be on the boxes or on the stickers placed on individual fruit. Anyone who has the recalled products in their possession should not consume them and should discard them. If consumers are seeking reimbursement, they should return to the store where they purchased the product to request a refund, providing proof of purchase or receipt if available. Consumers with questions may contact Wawona Packing’s consumer information desk at 1-888-232-9912, M-F, 8am-11pm EST or Sat-Sun 8am-8pm EST, or visit www.wawonapacking.com for a copy of this press release and product photos."
I found the wawonapacking.com website to be the most helpful for helping me to make sure I didn't have any of the affected fruit. If you click on the first link on the website, it brings up a document with pictures of the stickers and packaging for everything that is recalled.

The same thought crossed my mind, but I figured it can't hurt to double check everything and be a little more cautious over the next couple of weeks.
Gah, I get so frustrated with the food industry about this stuff. I haven't bought a single stone fruit from any vendor since the news first broke, because recalls always seem to expand this way, for weeks after the initial announcement.
The very, very good news for all of us is that nobody has gotten sick from these fruits. The recall was a precaution, and not in response to reported illnesses. The CDC tracks listeria outbreaks, so if people were getting sick, that would be in the news. We're all going to be OK, mamas.
