August 2014 Moms

My induction is scheduled for this weekend, feeling nervous!

I am 4 days past due and at my OB appointment today they went ahead and scheduled me for an induction early Sunday morning. Even though I'm a second time mom I am feeling so nervous because this is not how things went down with my first baby! Last time I was able to go in to labor on my own, right on schedule and did a completely med free birth. The idea of getting pitocin scares me but at least I know that there is an end in sight so that is a little reassuring. I'm still hoping LO will show up on her own before the scheduled induction though :-)

Anyone else overdue and have an induction scheduled? Any positive induction stories to make me feel less nervous? Thanks in advance, you ladies are the best!

  • I dont have either, an induction or positive story, but i wanted to wish you luck! You will do great! And there is still time! :)

Started TTC in 2006, LOTS of trying, and trying, and 7 rounds of IVF with 13 embryos, 2 perfect little boys and 5 loses....
All finished with babies, started to make diet changes, Keto, to be MORE for my kids, lost 30 pounds, still going, and 3 months in, I had a natural cycle, and then ovulated... Hubs and I are going to see what happens now... Maybe a natural pregnancy? After everything we have been through? Or just a return to normal hormones? We shall see what the future holds!

  • if you really want to give your baby and body time to go into labor naturally, and you and baby are healthy you should see if they will let you wait till 42 weeks to induce. I went to 42 weeks with DD and I am doing everything to avoid getting induced this time. Just know you have options if you want them!

  • I have an ultrasound scheduled for Friday to make sure fluid levels and everything are good. I told my OB I wanted to give it as long as possible for labor to start naturally and we were originally going to schedule the induction for Monday or Tuesday of next week but the hospital was booked up for those days so we opted for Sunday. I still have some time so I'm hoping things will happen on their own before then, just nervous in case they don't. Either way, as long as I have a healthy baby I will be happy!

  • I just scheduled my induction for the day after my due date. His umbilical cord is a sua so my Dr didn't want me to go much passed 40 weeks. I still have a week and a half to get this baby to come out! I would much prefer it that way.
  • I was induced last time and it was textbook perfect! But I had zero desire to try pain med free either. They started meds at 8am, got my epidural around 1:30, and DS was born at 8:07 pm. :). I would gladly repeat that birth!

  • I have had two inductions and both ended well!  My only advice is that if you have decided to go with the meds ask for them early.  With my first they had an emergency and I had to wait 5 hours for my epi and that was tough (but all ended well!!!)....with my second I didn't need Pitocin and it was a dream experience.  You will be just fine but I totally understand being nervous!!!  If you have any questions please let me know, I'm happy to help ease any worry!  Good luck :)
  • You ladies are so awesome, thanks a million for the support!

  • I'm in the same boat. I was due aug. 7, and have induction scheduled for Wednesday. I'm a nervous wreck as this is not how I imagined delivering my first! On top of that I'm so tired of people asking me why I haven't had him yet!! Seriously?!?! Sorry ladies, rant over! Good luck with yours!
  • I'm a week overdue and a FTM. Induction scheduled for Wed night. I hope that things will still happen on their own, but despite trying everything I've not been progressing. It's nice to hear some positive induction stories since there are a lot if negative ones out there! Thanks ladies!

And I agree - the daily texts asking if I've had her yet just add insult to injury!!
  • I'm 8 days overdue and have an induction scheduled for Monday.... I'm with you- hoping she comes on her own but at least there's a light at the end of the tunnel!! I'm a ftm- so don't really know what to expect either
  • I'm being induced on Friday and I'm nervous too.

  • There's a lot of unpredictability no matter how labor progresses. I was induced with my DD and had a very successful induction. I am hoping to start labor on my own this time, but have induction tentatively scheduled for Weds. If an induction is what I need to get this baby out safely, then I'll do it again in a second. I'm 2cm and 70% effaced and baby is low, just like I was with DD.
