Having a fairly difficult time choosing a car seat for my little princess. So many options now that I know she isn't limited because of her SB. But I would like something with a lot of padding for her little back. Any suggestions ladies?
My first thought is that you won't find one with a lot of padding because it can be compressed in an accident (same logic to not putting a puffy coat on your kid when they are in the seat). I don't have any specific recommendations other than going to a store and carrying one to see how heavy it is without the baby and review online. There are some good sites out there (Car Seats for the Littles is one) that have great information.
I agree with PP about padding. It sounds nice, but it's actually counter productive. I would focus on safety ratings, and what you like to carry/works with your stroller. We went with the Britax B-Safe, but there are others that are a little lighter if that matters to you.
Have you asked your ped? They might have a recommendation for a seat that is good for babies with SB. We have and loved the Chicco Key Fit 30. It is super easy to use- easy on and off the base, the straps don't twist and they are easy to tighten. The base is easy to install and level. The Chicco seat is a little heavier than other seats, but that is because the bottom is solid vs having an open notch. I believe that Buy Buy Baby will let you take different seats out to your car to test and that might be worth doing with your top 2 or 3 so you can get a feel for how the seat will function once you are using it every day.
5 cycles of "TTC" - 3 intentional, 2 not so intentional. 5 BFPs. My rainbow arrived 10/15/14. TFMC 08.02.13 at 19+ weeks. Everyday I grieve for my little Olive.
I went with Graco for DS and hated it. He was too big for the seat and the seat was all hard and uncomfortable. I've tested out Chicco this time and that's what I'm going with. The Chicco Neuvo travel system to be exact.
That's the system we got, on Nicb13's rec. We haven't opened the box yet to install it, but loved it in store.

We had a Chico seat with DD2 and she was a bigger baby and it worked great for her
This is good to hear. DS was 9 pounds at birth and I'm hoping DD is smaller but if not, I'd like a carrier that will work for a larger baby.
We have the Chicco Keyfit 30 and it worked great for my big babies.
In general Graco, Chicco, and Britax are the three most popular brands for infant seats. Check out https://www.lucieslist.com/ - she has a great page discussing all the infant seats. We chose Chicco for DS1 mainly due to ease of installation. All the seats pass the same safety ratings.

I'm getting the Britax and using their infant insert that adds plushness.

We chose this one for the same reason. Those suckers get heavy to carry around, and a couple pounds difference is a lot as baby gets bigger :P
