Graduated RE... already?!

Hi ladies! I had my 8w1d b/w & u/s today. Everything went well. Fetal pole measured at 8w3d and hb was 164. But at the end of my appointment my RE simply left the room, without even saying goodbye, and my nurse informed me that this was my last visit there. They graduated me today. Isn't eight weeks early?? I don't even have an OB locked down yet! And how weird that the RE wouldn't even say goodbye to me. I get the feeling that they didn't really like me there, but I didn't have lots of love for them, either. Still, it was disappointing.
Do you mind me asking at what week your RE released you to your OB?

I am sorry! I have things backwards! lol. (Pregnancy brain!) 8 weeks I graduated, but he told me at my 7 week appt that I was graduating the next week. The 6 week appt he suggested I pick a ob. When we parted ways he was super nice and told my husband and I to keep them in the loop. Sorry you had a bad experience!

I think my RE released me around 9 weeks. I had 3 betas and two ultrasounds before he released me. He did let me know ahead of time though that the next appointment they would release me and to decide what hospital we wanted to deliver at by then and they would help us find an OB so we were matched with an OB before we were officially released. That is strange that he didn't even say goodbye. Sorry he was so impersonal. Hopefully you have better luck with an OB.

I graduated at 10 weeks.. Im sorry that they did not give you at least a goodbye.. that is seems kind of crappy.  You better get on that OB search quick!   and find one that likes you and you like them!

I graduated at 9 weeks....I think that is fairly standard because you want to get to your OB between 10 and 12 to do a transfer appointment, consultation or early screens.

I was also released at 8 weeks. I had read on here that most women had their first OB appointment at 10-12 weeks or so, so that prompted me to call and ask when I'd graduate. At my office, being released at 8 weeks means everything is looking a-ok so far and there's nothing more they can do for you. 

Also, sucks that your RE didn't say bye! Mine wasn't my biggest fan but I still got a handshake.

My OB starts seeing patients at 8 weeks, so I scheduled my first OB appt for 9 weeks since I was at the RE at 8 weeks.

I had my last sono at my RE at 8 weeks but he continued to monitor my progesterone and estrogen until 12 weeks. ( I went in for weekly labs).  He did have us in to the office and we had a last formal meeting with him that really wasn't much but I understand you haveing some hurt feelings over it.  That would bother me too!

I can't remember, but I know it was earlier than I had expected, as well. It was about 8 weeks or so I think. I think it has alot to do with individual insurance companies. They cut you off at a certain point and make you to go to an OB/GYN.

Mine did say goodbye and congratulated us and was very supportive. I am sorry yours didn't do that for you. GOOD LUCK

P.s. I think my doctor liked me because I am a 41 year old woman who got pregnant on IVF #1....I look GREAT for SARTS data! for a doctor he he he he

For ds I have 2 betas and an u/s at 7 wks and that was it. I called my OB after that I got it for my in take appt.

For my current twin pg I had an u/s at 7, 8 and 10 wks. There was possibly a triplet so they wanted to see what would happen with that before releasing me.

I think if they released you after the first good u/s then that mean everything looks great. I'm sorry your re isn't more personable. I couple of te ones I saw weren't either. For my last appt I made sure to schedule it with one I liked

I graduated at 10 weeks but saw my OB (same as my GYN) at 8 weeks then 12 weeks, etc. Had to do with my insurance company. They wouldn't pay for scans at an RE office past 10 weeks. I was so disappointed to leave. We were getting scans every week, it was great!

And I find a lot of doctors don't have good social skills or bedside manners so I wouldn't take it personally.

I also was released at 8 weeks. I'm sorry that you had a bad experience though. They told me "your just a regular pregnant girl" at that point. It's so hard to get over IF brain!!!

Thank you all, ladies! It just felt really soon. It seemed that I had been reading about most people graduating at 10 weeks. Now I feel better, and not like they just want to be rid of me!

I could tell my RE never really had the warm and fuzzies for me, but that's okay. If something hurts, I say ouch. If I don't understand something, I ask questions. I think she was a little impatient with me at times, but never unprofessional. That's okay. I had a good relationship with my nurse, who also told me today that I can still call her privately if I ever need to. SHE insisted I give her a hug before I left!

As for the OBs, I've been looking for weeks now. It sucks. I got a list of OBs from my hospital. I started with the females, and have had to cross each one off, one by one. Four of them are not accepting new OB patients at all. One is already booked for my birth month. One moved back to India- permanently. One never returned my call. I have a meet and greet appointment with the last remaining female next week. FX we like each other!!!

Good luck with your OB search and congrats on graduating from your RE.  Mine was not the warm fuzzy type either, in fact he had very little in the way of social skills. BUT... he did what my two previous doctors couldn't do, so I don't take it personally!
I was also released after my 7 week ultra sound. They saw the heartbeat and dismissed me to a regular OB. That appointment wasn't until 10 weeks. So that was a very long and difficult wait.

Ha! My RE didn't even do beta after positive hpt, said "follow up with your family dr or OB". So did serial betas with my obgyn and have an ultrasound Thursday (7wk).

I was released after my 9 week u/s and I didn't have a new OB either! It all seemed to go so fast!

Last time I finished at 8w, this time all my tests started late due to 4th of July weekend so my 3rd u/s wasn't until 1 day short of 9w. I actually didn't get to say goodbye to the actual RE either time because the 1st time I graduated from an office I'm not usually at due to scheduling and this time the doc and my nurse were on vacation this week! I get what you mean though - seems weird for them not to at least say "See ya and good luck!"

I was released after my first U/S @ almost 7 weeks. It felt so strange after being there for over a year! My last appt was w/ a nurse practitioner, so I didn't get to see our RE either. She did call me later that day to say congrats & good luck though.

I wasn't released until 11 weeks but the local RE who I saw for monitoring told me she releases her patients at 7 weeks...
As for looking for an OB, due to a scheduling change of the MFM I see, I showed up to find I got a guy.. I always chose a woman doctor (except for IF bc I needed quality over what sex they were) but I just stayed with this MFM. Maybe you'd get along better with a male doctor??? At this point so many people have been up my hoo ha that I could care less!

My RE doesn't do post-BFP stuff, because his practice is really, really busy, so it was off to the OB (which I also didn't have lined up - we moved right before we started IVF treatment, so I kind of never bothered find an OB). My DH arranged my first prenatal appointment and the Dr. is male. I think earlier this might have bothered me, but after IF, my main concern is having the most competent doctor possible. Do you think that you would consider a male doctor? It might be easier to get in somewhere, if you were. I think it really depends a lot on the Dr.'s bedside manners.

Lurking.... I can't believe he didn't say goodbye! But then again my RE didn't but the DE coordinators gave me a big hug. I barely saw my Dr in the 3 yrs I've been at the clinic.

I'm so freaking excited that you graduated!! I got booted at 6 weeks. I felt so lost.

Good luck on the hunt for an OB. I asked my SIL who she went with and I had no problem getting in at 10 wks. They deliver at the hospital I wanted to.

I just feel like all IVF patients should get more loving lol. I do feel a bit lost with an OB!! Again... Congrats!

Oh I forgot to add we have to rotate b/w the dr's in the practice so I do have to see a few male dr's. One I know his wife and daughter. I've only met him once and I pray he doesn't remember me. Ugh how awkward...

Last time I was released at 7 weeks. They do three ultrasounds (5,6,7) then release you. They told me to get an OB at my second ultrasound because I had to sign release of records forms and they needed my OB's name the following week.This time I'm probably going to be closer to 8 weeks only because my vacation next week is holding my second ultrasound off to 6w5d instead of 6even

8 weeks, first OB appt at 10 weeks.  They gave me warning though so I could make appointments and things.

8 weeks... but my RE asked me at 6w who I was seeing as an OB. So I had some warning. I went to my first OB apt at 10w. Good luck!!

I was released at 8 weeks. I cried my last visit. The girls in the office were just amazing. I'm sorry your RE was so impersonal.

That sucks that your RE didn't even say goodbye!  Our office made a CD for us of the last u/s which was pretty cool.  We were released at 12 weeks with 1st OB appt at 13 weeks.

That really sucks about your RE!!! We graduated at 6&1/2 weeks, we got a letter and and all (I felt like it was a diploma lmbo). It was early compared to last one, but he was happy.

I can't believe your RE was so blah about your leaving! I "graduated" at 10 weeks but went back at 12 to go over my Panorama results. I cried when I said goodbye, RE and nurse gave me big hugs, it was emotional. I went to a small practice though, one doctor, one nurse, one medial assistant, one receptionist. I don't know what your practice was like, but maybe if it was a larger practice, they don't have the time to get too personal. Still pretty crazy to go through one of the most emotional experiences of your life and not get a proper goodbye from the doctor.

I graduated two days before 8 weeks. My U/S was with a tech and then my RE called me later with the results. I was a little upset I didn't get to see my RE in person, especially since the last time I was her was in May before I cycled. However, I have her personal e-mail and she was like "please e-mail me updates" and such on our phone call.

Sorry your RE was so impersonal.

My RE graduated us at 6w4d. We had 2 betas and the ultrasound. Once they saw the heartbeat, the Dr came in, spoke with us for a while & then let me know I needed to pick an OB. He actually gave us a recommendation, but said to keep it quiet lol! He's the sweetest Dr. I'm so bummed he left the practice & took a position in Florida, but I can't blame him! NE Ohio winters are brutal.
