Linea nigra - when does it go away?

Hi ladies,

For those of you that had the pleasure of this lovely line down the tummy... Is it gone? Is it fading?

Wondering when this sucker will be gone. Went to try on a bikini and thought hell no! Forget the post partum flab, the line is what people will notice most!

Re: Linea nigra - when does it go away?

  • Mine took a few months to go away with DS.

  • Loading the player...
  • For some I hear it can take up to one year.

    We have our "Irish Twins"

    DD born 8/7/2013

  • Mine goes from the top of my belly all the way to the bottom! I had only thought you get it below the belly button! But, yea I've heard it can take a while.

  • I still have mine from top to bottom. Doesn't really look like it's fading even though I'm 9w PP.

  • I've never heard of this but mine is actually a big plus sign. Above, below, right, and left of my belly button. And it shows no sign of disappearing at this point.

  • I'm not sure if it's because I was so tan when I had DD but mine is gone already. I'm 3w PP. But again, could just not be as visible because of the tan and the skin not being stretch out anymore.

  • Mine is from top to bottom as well. Glad I'm not alone. Hopefully it doesn't take a year! Although once summer is over it won't really matter anyhow.
  • Another Top to Bottomer here too and going strong.

  • I still had a faint line after 3 years under my belly button.  The top line was gone pretty quickly.  This time it didn't get much darker and I'm hoping it will eventually go away.

  • Mine is top to bottom and around the whole belly button, and the bottom half is so thick and looks like black magic marker practically :( My DH was researching it for me and some articles said it takes as long to go away as it did to appear... Boo :(

We have a beach trip at the end of the month and I will definitely be rocking a one piece!
  • Mine went away probably around 6 months after DD. Had it from top to bottom, same situation as this time.

Third baby, but first time I got the line top to bottom. Almost two weeks postpartum and it almost seems darker from the skin shrinking. Doesn't bother me much though - at least if I have a bikini on people won't wonder why I still have a squishy belly ;) or if they ask about the line I can tell them what the heck my body just did :P
  • Almost 8 weeks PP and it's from top to bottom, still going strong.  DH is into it, though, so whatevs!  :)
