Hey all!
I'm 32 weeks pregnant with my first. Sunday night I went into ER because I had a severe asthma attack (I don't have asthma so it concerned us more than it normally would). While I was in there, the nurse told me she wanted me to follow up with my dr this morning because I had asked about a sharp pain going up through my vagina on top of her seeing some irritability on my monitor for contractions. I've been told about it before, but I am always feeling crampy so I just ignore it. Apparently, I wasn't supposed to because the nurse said those sharp pains are typically associated with the cervix dilating. So anyway I called the dr and they wanted me to come in and get examined. I didn't get to see my actual Dr. I had to see the guy who works in the office along side him. They hooked me up to the monitors there and they were picking up the same irritability. What they noticed though was my number would go from a 5 to a 18 and then my baby's heart rate would jump from 130 to 170. The nurse was concerned about it so she went and asked the dr to come do a cervical check. He did the check but didn't tell me if I was or wasn't dilated. (This is the kind of dr that should NOT be a OBGYN. He makes you feel like an idiot for asking questions, even when the nurses who have been pregnant express their concerns.) He just did the check, wiped his hands off, and then left. Didn't say anything at all. I went home, still feeling crampy and like I have to poop, but there is nothing there. I'm not constipated, there is just literally nothing there. The cramping feeling comes and goes..not really close together, but still pretty consistent. It's more like an all day thing. When I went to the bathroom about 10 minutes ago, I wiped and there was this big, thick chunk of discharge. It was clear, but had some tinges of yellowish in it..Not like infection type yellow..just normal discharge color, but it was still really think, which isn't the way mine normally is. It's more like a milky white and almost completely liquid. Just wondering if this is part of my mucus plus that the dr may have knocked loose? I haven't had a cervical exam since I first found out I was pregnant and I never had any of this with that one. I just don't want to be that patient that calls every time something seems wrong, if it's a normal thing. I'm just trying not to stress myself out and it's not working
Re: Worried FTM...please give advice..
1) The number on the monitor that measures contractions.
2) I tried asking him and he acted like he didn't hear me. Even my mom mentioned it and he just kept talking like he didn't hear us. I seriously hate this doctor, but mine was in OR today and wanted me to be checked out first thing this morning so I had to see him. I don't typically see him. I am already planning on calling the office again in the morning. Right now, I'm not having any contractions, at least not that I'm feeling. The monitor was going up and down like I was having them, but I couldn't feel them so I'm not sure what they were. The only reason I left was because I had an appointment for something else that I couldn't be late for and needed to get on the road for that.
3) I just didn't want to get too freaked out if it's a normal occurrence to lose chunks of it after an exam.
Well, I called this morning and my dr is on vacation until next Wednesday, which is the same time as my H/R appointment so they said if I feel like it's an emergency then go to labor and delivery, but if I'm not having contractions right now then just hold out for a few more days. The thing is I can't actually feel the contractions at all. The monitor was showing that I was having them, but I couldn't feel them. Just the consistent cramp feeling. It never goes away and I've had it since 28 weeks so I just learned to ignore it.
The symptoms you described (esp feeling the urge to poop) sound like the preterm labor I had with my daughter at 32 weeks. You definitely want to stay on top of that.
Good luck!
