Just a general question first time mom here. I am. 28 weeks and 2 days just wondering what Braxton hicks feel like and how do I know I am having them ? Was in quite a bit of pain yesterday and my stomach was rock hard thanks ladies
I've had a couple episodes of Braxton Hicks. It felt like a very painful, sharp muscle cramp in a specific place on my belly (for me, the left side). The pain would ebb and flow just like it will during labor (so I'm told). But, I also had it happen when it was just an isolated pain, very intense for several minutes, but then it didn't come back again. I wasn't that alarmed when it happened because it was pretty obviously muscle pain, and nothing else going on internally. And it went away on its own and didn't come back.
I get the every once and a while, not very often thank god, because mine are painful. And they don't last very long either. My baby is very low on me and I can't feel the inside of my hip bones anymore, but when mine happens I can feel one of the insides of my hip bones, usually the left one, and my stomach is hard and pushed over to the other side. You can see that my abdomen is lop-sided. It's very uncomfortable, painful, and looks very strange. But it ends quickly and I go back to normal.
I have them but my stomach doesn't get lopsided or anything but I imagine that's because I was already a little pudgy!! However they take the wind right out of me!!!
Re: Braxton hicks
Usually they ball up one area but your whole stomach can tighten. It is the same thing as when you orgasm
When I have actual productive contractions nothing helps, and they hurt very bad like bend over can't walk easily or talk
BH hurts sometimes but relatively mild pain for me
