Activities for your LO

What are you all doing for activities for your LO? DS likes to go on his playmat, he really just looks around, he isn't really interacting with it just yet. I have tried giving him rattles, but he is just grabbing it for a few seconds at this point. Anyone have babies that have started playing with toys of any kind yet? I know all babies develop differently. Just curious where everyones LO is at.

  • Brooke is 3 months old and she loves her play mat. She use to just kick her legs and look around. The day after she turned 3 months she started reaching and swatting at the toys- she's also doing a lot more babbling while on it too.

  • I prop DS up - sitting in my lap mostly - and have him watch me play with the toys. Sounds silly but the ones with noise and lights really get his attention. We also read books, including ones on the iPad... Again the lights are a big draw.

  • Dude loves this jingle owl and a crinkle elephant both make noise any time they both make noise any time they are touched.
  • We do activity mat, book looking/ reading, walks were we stop and look at things like flowers, tree bark etc. Also started taking her to a local parenting center for activities and she loves to " talk" to the other babies there.
  • DD is almost 3months and has seemingly enjoyed her playmat for about a month now but more recently she has started to grab at the toys. She's also started grabbing Sophie and chewing on it. She swats at the toys on her bouncer. Otherwise, we spend a lot of time "talking" during the day, I take her bouncer on to our front porch to watch the people and cars go by, we also go for walks everyday. Also, she goes in her swing, not sure if that's really considered an activity though.
  • DD looks around, sometimes grabs her OBall rattle ball thing, and watches the mobile in her swing. That's about it until someone gave her a Baby Einstein music thing - it looks like an ipod with a caterpillar handle. It plays music and the lights go. As soon as she sees this thing she watches it and smiles up a storm. LOVES it!
  • DD is 10 wks old and loves her playmat gym and her kick piano mat. She kicks like crazy on both of them and swats the hanging toys like a maniac! I also sometimes read to her, make funny faces, or sing to her (she loves "head shoulders knees and toes" BC I touch those body parts while I sing).
  • Dd is one to kind of just look around too. I like to think she is just studying all the new surroundings. I put her under her gym whole she is awake or try to talk to her. We go to a gymboree play and music class 3 times a week too.

Mine also loves her kick and play piano mat. She likes this taggies giraffe too a lot and anything that lights up and plays music. I got some really cheap light up toys at children's orchard for her. She also loves those finger puppet books.

  • DD is 3m today, loves her kicknplay, she reaches for the toys and loves the mirror. She likes the FP light up lamp too but her favorite thing is to look at trees. It's crazy we go for walks and she stares at them and smiles but if you walk into an opening w/o trees she cries! She has no interest in crinkle toys, Sophie or books. We sing and dance with her a lot too. Lots of Raffi in our house :)

  • DD is 11 weeks old. She and I go for walks in the middle of the day or late afternoon to walk the dog and she also loves to look at the trees. I think it has to do with the contrast of trees to sky. We also watch PBS kids shows, mostly while I'm busy making lunch or something. We read books, she and I talk to each other. We walk around the house too and she laughs at a couple of ceiling lights we have. She plays with her Lamaze dragonfly toy. I have also started sign language with her and use it while talking to her. I learned it in school and at work (a lot of deaf students attend the university where i work) and I am a huge proponent of using ASL. We are mostly learning colors right now cause it's fun and easy.

  • DS enjoys his swing, bouncer, baby Einstein plAymat, boppy, wrist rattles and staring at himself in his baby mirror. We pretty much rotate him all day between activities. When he's had enough he lets us know. He's been playing with sensory toys also that my sister bought him. DH put up animal pictures on Apple TV that rotate and when he's in the swing he looks at them. We also started reading books a couple times a day.
  • We have also been introducing her to smells. I let her smell whatever I'm eating or drinking.
