Blended Families

That didn't last long & pills in a bag of food sent for SD's.

I didn't figure BM would be incarcerated very long, only 5 days but that's ok.

I don't understand why the judge just let her out, she said bc she didn't have to pay CS but the prosecutor still says she does. BM offered this info on her own along with a court date she has.

Which brings me to the bag with pills in it. I'm not sure if the court date is for the pills that were taken to the prosecutor's office or for the CS. The evening BM was arrested, BM's FI brought out bags of cookies and a couple of coloring posters for SD's. The bags were not open until we got home. SD's along with 2 of my nieces were in the kitchen and SD's were taking everything out of the bags and putting it on the table. DH was on his way to the kitchen and I was right behind him. 6yo SD had a grocery bag upside down to get the last cup of cookies out of it and a pill fell out. It was a capsule and DH said "How did SS's medicine get in there" DH picked it up and it was a darker yellow than my DS's pills. I knew it couldn't be one of his pills anyways bc they stay locked in my room as they are a controlled substance.

DH took the bag and shook it and 4 more pills fell out. We checked the foods for puncture marks, I took pictures of everything together.. put the pills in a breastmilk bag..(lol) I looked the pills up by the number and color and found that they were for anxiety, alcohol withdrawal and insomnia. I printed those pages out and attached them to the milk bag.

DH called the police and they couldn't do anything b/c we had crossed county lines with these pills. He was told to flush them or take them back to the other county.

He bagged up all of the cookies and edible things that were sent along with the pills and took it to the atty's office the next morning. The attorney literally had no words. He said he was going to try to get her for child endangerment, neglect and something else but DH can't remember what. The attorney took it straight to the prosecutor's office. We haven't heard anything yet on what is going on with that.

BM came over Saturday for her visit and denied that pills were in the bag. DH showed her pictures of the pills and said they were her FI's pills but he wouldn't put them in there. BM then had 4 different stories within less than 3 minutes on how the pills got in the bag and none of them made any sense.

This isn't the first pill incident we have had with SD's so I really hope they don't overlook it this time. The first time, BM gave them her FI's son's prescribed pills that help him sleep. What if they would have thought it was candy or something. They knew it wasn't but still.

  • never ever flush medication

  • Loading the player...
  • Wow. I don't know what else to say. Hope things settle down for you soon. Sounds like it's been a crazy few days/weeks.
  • hm...what cop would tell you to flush the pills?

I would call back to talk to a supervisor.  Because if they told you to flush the pills, then maybe, they were not being straight with you about what they COULD or COULD NOT do.

  • That's what I was thinking, I was told years ago by my Dr. when they were trying to find the right meds to treat my fibromyalgia to bring the meds back if they didn't work, and not flush them.

DH called our county and while he was on the porch waiting for them to come out, an officer called back and told him that. He asked the officer why they couldn't come out or if they could put it on file or something and he was told to either flush them or take a risk driving with the pills back to BM's county. =/

This whole situation is crazy but the cop's response takes the cake.
  • Again, have you called the police department to talk to a Supervisor?

Because at the very least, the officer that called you back was being lazy and was being really wrong.

  • Yes I agree. Unfortunately it is not the first time our county department has failed us.

I gave DH @llumine advice to call a higher up.

  • I gave DH your advice.. If he isn't able to do it today then I will. He was the one to speak with them so I don't know if me doing anything will make any kind of impact but will definitely try.
