Nov. Twins Check In - 8/4

edited August 2014 in November 2014 Moms

Happy August! I can't believe we're already four days into the month, and after August, we just have September and October to get through. I guess the good (?) thing about twin pregnancies is that we normally have a shorter third trimester. Although being bigger earlier and carrying around two babies instead of one is probably an equal trade off.

Also, a very happy V-Day to @MrsC430 and @Amandakea15!

How are you feeling? Any fun stories to share? Any nurseries/clothes/BS invite pics you want to AW? Appointment updates?

...and a random GTKY question...(sorry if this has been asked before. I remember answering it somewhere, but I didn't think it was here.)

Do you plan to dress your twins in matching outfits?

  • How are you feeling? Any fun stories to share? Any nurseries/clothes/BS invite pics you want to AW? Appointment updates?

I'm feeling pretty good.  Still having random bouts of shortness of breath but not much to complain about.  Right now I am in full gear helping organize for my gender reveal baby shower which will be a Bowties & Bows Theme. I am kind of excited that we decided to do a gender reveal shower because now I can be a little more involved since I'm the planner/organizer in my family.  They still have lots of surprises planned so I won't be all the way in the know.  Unfortunately my shower date has been pushed back to accommodate my boss who really wants to be there.  It is now on September 6th (FINAL ANSWER) so  @absolutelymaybe you may wanna update that :).  Its been one month since my husband found out and I am not so anxious anymore so the extra week isn't so bad. As for appointments I had one 2 weeks ago and babies are fine but I have another one scheduled next week for glucose tolerance.  Really hoping I pass this one as I got gestational diabetes in the last 2 weeks with DS and twins of course give you a higher risk so I have been avoiding sweets and drinking lots of water.  Hope I pass!

Do you plan to dress your twins in matching outfits?

I plan to dress the twins alike but more coordinating than exact matches. For cuhrch dresses I think I will do exact matches if I have the same gender. if its one boy one girl they will coordinate in color of course.

The good- had our anatomy scan. They are both in the 90%. Each are 2+ lbs. My husband and I are both really tall so makes sense.
I bought the cribs and changing table on Friday which made me nervous (I'm a bit superstitious) and excited at the same time. Also had the soon to be baby room painted on Friday (super light grey). It's suddenly all feeling real and super soon! eek!

The suck - I have to do the 3hr glucose (really 4 hr) on Thursday. My dr isn't worried, said it's normal to fail with 2 placentas. she did a glucose blood draw after I ate normally the other day and my numbers were great. But I failed the 1hr with the gross drink so who knows. Not looking forward to that at all. At least the babies are totally proportional and don't show any signs of it.

No matching outfits for us but we will most likely be in complementary styles or colors to appease my OCD.

Things are good. We are finally moved, but still have a lot of unpacking to do. I had my first appointment with my new on today. He did quick u/s to see baby positions. Baby a was head down and b was breech. He said as long as a is head down I can deliver vaginally. He recommends delivering between 37-38 weeks. I liked him but dh thought he was a little cocky because he was saying how good he is turning baby b if its breech. He also said I could choose when I quit working, usually around 34 weeks. My only concern is he is going to be out the end of September and early October so if I go to soon he won't be available. I am doing the glucose test probably tomorrow. I asked if I could do it this week since I start my job on Friday and don't want to use my sick leave.

Do you plan to dress your twins in matching outfits?
Maybe similar occasionally, but probably not the same.

  • How are you feeling? Any fun stories to share? Any nurseries/clothes/BS invite pics you want to AW? Appointment updates? Not much to report. Twin A is starting to get more active but nowhere near as violent as twin B. DD was a maniac in the womb so I have started speculating that they are fraternal twins and Twin A is a boy and Twin B is a girl. We'll see. Starting to go to the dr every two weeks it seems. Next week I have my 1 hr test. I passed with DD despite showing up to the test drinking a large hot chocolate (I had no idea the test was that day) so fingers crossed I pass again. Do you plan to dress your twins in matching outfits? No. I am not a matchy matchy person. I am sure MIL will buy them (and DD) many coordinating outfits but it's not my bag at all so I will just put them in them on different days. The only exception might be some sort of group halloween costumes... if DD will play along.

  • It's August!!!

So I missed last weeks check in because I was waiting until my two end of the week appts. I got the results back from my 24 hr urine. My numbers are in the high range, so it looks like the preeclampsia is back. I also had my 24 week u/s on Friday. Baby A- measuring 1lb 13oz and Baby B 1lb 9oz both are healthy and the doctor is confident in all the images obtained of both babies. Baby A is head down, they have a 14% difference in weight the doctor said they don't start worrying until 25% difference. So far so good. Now the depressing news the high risk OB doesn't think with my history of Preeclampsia or the stroke the babies are going to last to long inside without medical intervention. So he is hoping they stay in until at least 28 weeks they have the highest chance of survival after this time. It has been discussed about me staying in the hospital for the remainder of the pregnancy so I can be monitored. He also wants me to switch over to heparin injections a lot sooner. It doesn't look like I am going to try vaginal delivery. I am just so over it, all the complications I have had in the last year are unbelievable. So I am also starting bi-weekly appointments. Then weekly starting in September. So that's that!!

I don't have a picture but my sister got little man a mustache sleep and play. I love it. After 2 girls I am excited for my boy!

They will not be dressed the same except possibly matching on special occasions.

Last weeks questions-- animal I mostly relate to right now A turtle things are moving at a slow pace for me and I just feel like hiding in my shell.

I don't read anything special blogwise I have The baby bump twins and triplet edition and Twins, Triplets and Quads on my tablet. I browse through.

Hi ladies! Well, we made it to V-Day! Yay! Aside from that, things are relatively uneventful @ the moment. Feeling pretty good (aside from still getting morning sickness). Starting to cross over to the uncomfortable stage, but nothing too bad yet. Sleeping has been a little rough.

My next U/S is next Tuesday. I'm thinking they'll probably talk to me about scheduling the glucose test then. Worried about being able to keep the nasty drink down :| Should be interesting.

Much to my MIL's dismay, I doubt we will dress them the same. Maybe for a holiday or a special occasion? Otherwise, I'm not much of a fashionista myself lol. They'll be wearing a lot of "whatever's clean" ;)

It's twin girls!! Born on 11-2-14!

  • @absolutelymaybe‌ and @MrsC430‌ Thank you so much! I need all the thoughts and good juju right now. I am feeling so overwhelmed. I am hoping babies will just surprise everyone and stay till 36 weeks! Wishful thinking! I will be checking in with you ladies if anything changes.

Glucose test this Thursday, fingers crossed I pass but I'm doubtful. Two weeks after my glucose test I will have another ultrasound to see if baby boy is still measuring 18% or more than baby girl.

Do you plan to dress your twins in matching outfits? I plan to coordinate some of their outfits, I think it's cute!

Feeling pretty good! We were away all weekend, and I survived my 2 volunteer shifts with plenty of breaks :) we had a great time, Despite the really crappy weather.

Had my first ridiculous question! I was asked if we planned to have twins. Ummm. No?

Other than that, I'm loving that I have been feeling them more and more. H was able to feel them for the first time this weekend, and the look on his face was amazing :)

As for the matching outfits, we may use some for photo ops or holidays, but not for day to day wear- unless it's the only thing clean ;)
  • Okay, it's the end of the week and I'm finally updating! I had an appointment yesterday afternoon and hoped I'd get some cute photos to post. Unfortunately, the twins were being uncooperative. Ari kept his arms over his face the entire time and Willa decided to do her best zombie impersonation (I swear -- doesn't it look like she's zombie walking or Thriller dancing?) OH well. The good news is: we are all doing good! Willa is 1 lb 5 oz, Ari is 1 lb 6 oz and momma's weight gain has finally slowed down. At 24 weeks, I'm up 34 lb. I can handle that. Now my appointments will be every two weeks.

Movement is getting stronger. DH had his head on my belly last Saturday and he got kicked! It was probably only one of three or four good STRONG kicks I've had.

QOTW: I plan to get a few cute matching onesies for when they're really little, but don't plan to dress them matchy often or for very long. Maybe coordinating for pictures? I have a feeling I'm going to be in "just find whatever is clean" mode. As long as they're dressed, I'm doing OK.
