I watched it this weekend and OMG! It was amazing. It is free right now from Starz On demand. The actor/actresses did a great job and really brought the story to life. I am sad that I have to wait for another episode. I want to watch them all right now.

I've only read the first book and am working my way through the second. I've been following some of the pre-show hype and I had my reservations about Sam as Jaime but thought they nailed Claire.
Having watched the first episode, I think I have to switch that. She LOOKS like Claire and sounds like her but I felt like she over-emoted (is that a word?) a bit for me in parts and smiled too much or something, but I think she'll settle into the roll. Jaimie was great and Frank and Dougal are exactly as I pictured them.
@blueridge8 The only character I had reservations about was Dougal. In the show he looks older than I imagined. For some reason I have always pitcured him as a handsome man but in the show he looked more grandfatherly. I actually liked Frank a lot more after the show. He gets little attention in the series but he was a really good man and seeing his character on screen really made me connect with him.
I'm really looking forward to watching it. I season-passed it already and I've been following the author on Facebook and seeing some clips that she posted. I hope they do a good job with it.

Frank is a character I struggled with. I won't say too much for those that haven't read the books, but I think the description of the physical similarities between Frank and Jack Randall made me connect them more than I should have, and attribute some negative characteristics to Frank that didn't exist. I had to remind myself that he was a good man when story lines followed or mentioned him because my instinct was to dislike him. I haven't seen the show yet (Starz doesn't stream in Canada unfortunately) so hopefully it'll help me see him separately from Jack Randall.

Ug, now I have to add Starz.
