Pelvic Pressure

I actually posted about this about 7 weeks ago when we had our A/S. At the time LO was breech but of course we knew he had plenty of time to move around and was probably in there doing all kinds of flips. In my previous post I had heard from ladies that said they had that pressure sensation in the bikini area and that it will typically go away...well...no. Mine is about a million times worse. If I'm out walking for usually 45 minutes or more, I'm in extreme pain and can barely move my legs. If I'm sitting for a long period of time (desk job :( ), when I stand I can hardly walk. When I'm laying in bed it takes my husband helping me to roll over because basically any time I move my legs the pain is killer. Moving my foot from petal to petal while driving...LOTS of pain.

ANYWAY...is this normal? I've discussed it with my Dr. more than once and she said "He's probably just low" both times. I'm fairly certain that his legs are gonna come busting out any second and I'll just spend these last 3 months with 4 legs.

Just curious to hear what others have experienced. Could he just be in love with this breech position and kicking extremely low or is it normal for the uterus to expand and be this painful? I assumed round ligament pains..but this is constant.

Essentially...I'm lost and broken :|

Re: Pelvic Pressure

  • FhSTAR81 well, I'm sorry but I'm glad I'm not alone. It's terrible! I mentioned this in another thread, but I went shopping yesterday with my husband and after about an hour of grocery shopping I laid in the frozen vegetable cooler and cried. It was an all time low. I got home from that little excursion around 4 and went to bed for the day/night. GAH!

  • I am the same! I have to spend most of the day sitting or laying down. It feels like he's just pushing down and going to come out! Anytime I work by the end of my shift I am pale and limping, it sucks but they say it's normal just RLP. I was scared at first and insisted on an US to make sure my cervix wasn't dialating but everything was fine.
  • I go to a chiro and barre classes every day to manage my hip and pelvic issues.   There is also an at home "treatment" for SPD.   Google it - there are vids on Youtube that helped me.

  • I have the same problem. Doc said baby is pushing on the nerve and it causes your legs to feel like you ran a marathon and when you lay it feels like you have a constant Charlie horse. Rolling over I have DH help me too it's becoming less and less possible. It's part of the sciatica for me and it sucks!
  • Oh yea, I definitely have the sciatica thing going on. I've always had an issue with it but it got significantly worse very early on..like 10 weeks early. The combination of that and the feeling that I've pulled every muscle in my 'bikini area' is too much to bear sometimes. I'm not looking forward to the pain of birth but the relief sounds AMAZING!

  • I have the same thing going on.  I feel tons of pressure and if I am on my feet for a longer period of time it is almost unbearable to walk.  I feel like I definitely waddle at that time.  Grocery shopping is so painful.  Sorry you are going though this!
  • I echo the SPD advice. It doesn't go away, but if you manage it now, it might not get worse.
  • I have had SPD with both of my pregnancies but it's not pressure. It's just pure pain, right in your pelvis. It's terrible anytime you have to separate your legs (going up and down stairs, getting in and out of a car, turning over in bed, etc.).

It gets worse the more active you are, I would bring it up with your OB. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do but you can purchase a pelvic girdle, they help some, but not much. In extreme cases you can use a walker or wheelchair but hopefully it doesn't come to that!

  • I already posted this today but I'm too happy I'm going to see an acupuncturist about these pains! I don't know about you all but I can't take it anymore.

Just fyi the practice I'm seeing helps with breech babies so maybe you can look into it?

My only other option is to get a support jumpsuit for my belly. But since it's summer, idk how hot that'll make me. My bump is just so low I have to hold it up when walking. It hurts so bad.

Hope you get the relief you need ladies.

At my appointment this month my doc suggested trying the jumpsuit thingy or belly band. He said it might help but try it on before buying as some may be more uncomfortable. I'm going to shop around for one.

  • Yep I feel you on this one! It's pretty much constant pain because it comes when I sit for more than 10 minutes or so, when I lay down, when I try to get out of bed, when I walk or when I'm standing for more than a few minutes. It's horrible!

I've talked to my dr and she pretty much told me it's normal. She also recommended using the belt thing to support the belly. What I usually do is lay down on my side and put a pillow in between my legs. Or laying on my back with my hips propped up on a pillow and my legs up against the wall helps too, although I can only do that for short periods of time because then my sciatica pain kicks in.

I think I may try the acupuncture like @excitedpreggo12‌ suggested. Hopefully that helps.
