Cloth Diapering

Laundry troubles :( detergent (not Tide) that works?

The bleach/hot water strip that I did last week helped tons! No more stink and the MF came out much fluffier.

However, the stink is coming back already and the MF is getting 'dull' again.

I called Samsung and was told all my wash cycles use 12.86 gallons of water. There is no way to trick it or add more water.

I talked to my local appliance dealer/repair shop and she kept blaming the Allen's I was using and kept recommending using vinegar and oxyclean. She CD 25 years ago.....

I switched back to All small and mighty F&C last night and the diapers smelled so much better out of the wash.

Is there anything else to try? I can not use Tide original powder as DD broke out in a rash from it :(

Thank you!

Re: Laundry troubles :( detergent (not Tide) that works?

  • I've never tried Allens, but I actually hate Tide. I couldn't get the right amount with my softened well water and it it ended up causing stink issues. We use Nellies (have used it on city water and on well water) and really like it.

  • Country Save or Tiny Bubbles?
  • I really like Nellies. You can buy it on amazon to see if it works for you, and there is a huge bucket available at cottonbabies which is the best deal I've found. We use it on all of our laundry.

  • Nellies user here as well.  I switched when Tiny Bubbles became hard to find for a good price.

  • We were using planet powder, but I switch to Ecos liquid because a liquid seems to rinse out better for us.

  • We are also nellies users. My MF has been much better since switching to that. But I've discovered why everyone hates MF and am working on converting my stash to cotton prefolds and bamboo instead.
