Cloth Diapering

True aio

I am wanting to get Few aio for a family vacation in September. The grandparents will be there and if they need to change her, I want it to be easy as possible. I have a freetime and two elementals. But really want to try something other than bg. I have been looking at several brands and it seems to me that most AIO are more AI2, with some sort of snap in soaker. I know I don't like the blueberry aio. Are there any other aio that are really one piece? I Also really want aplex.

  • Why not just use the snap in ones?

  • I recently got a TotsBots v4 and I'm very happy with it, and planning to buy more. It has layers of natural and synthetic fibers, so launders easily and is quick-drying. It does have an extra snap-in soaker, but I have been leaving it out and still have plenty of absorbency for my 2YO.

When you say you don't like the Blueberry AIO, which have you tried? The Basix or the Simplex? Did you not like the fit, or the fibers, or something else about it?

Also, Thirsties AIO are just one piece and have an Aplix option. But most of the absorbency is in the middle and back, I think to accommodate the movement of the rise snaps. So I found it to be a bit weird on my boy. Also, they are an MF diaper, and over time I have found that I prefer natural fibers. YMMV.

  • I don't know which blueberry it is, my mil picked it up at a baby earth before little one got here. She has a habit of taking off all the tags off of gifts. It has a long minky piece that you fold over and stuff. Can't really say what I don't like about it, just don't. I also have a totbot pocket that I don't like, same thing don't know why I don't like them. They are both snaps, but I love my sunbaby snaps.

The reason I don't want the snap in is I fell like it is as much work as a pocket, and you still have to touch the pee on soaker.

I'll take a look at the thirsties, and totbot aplex. Thanks!

  • What about imagine stay dry AIO? They are soooo soft and squishy, pretty cheap, and work like a one piece AIO. The soaker can unsnap, but I never unsnap mine, and it's the same size as the diaper so there's no folding or stuffing. Their bamboo does have the long tongue though.

  • The whole point of a snapped in AIO is that you can use it like an AIO (including laundering) but have the option to take the insert off to speed up drying. It's not like it's mandatory to snap and unsnap it very time you use it. /:)

  • Ok, I thought I would have to snap and unsnap at every wash. With that in mind I think I will give the nickis a shot. I've been looking at them but the socket turned me off. I'll also give a thirsties a try. If I have no love for them I'll just sell them.

  • Sorry, I just double checked. Othe totbot is the AIO, the blueberry is the pocket.

  • Ftr, I know MK likes the imagine AIO better than the nickis AIO. She says the nickis one rolls out. That's what you said right @Chickypoo2468‌?

Do you know which version TotsBots you have? The v4 is fairly new, and I like it WAY better than the minky version I tried a couple of years ago.

I'll add to my recommendations that you try a Simplex, since they seem to be offering them with Aplix now. I can't remember if anyone here has reviewed that version as it is fairly new. It is similar to a Totsbots in that it has a sleeve that you can tuck the soaker into, or you can leave it out and have a stay-dry layer against baby's skin. The soaker does not detach.

Both TotsBots v4 and Simplex dry faster than the Thirsties AIO, which is why I like them better. For Thirsties brand I prefer their pockets for ease of laundering/drying, but I know that's not what you are looking for.
  • I ordered two nickis bamboo to give a try. They were on sale for 15 so I figured why not. Next week I am going to see my sister for the day, she has a store that sales imagine in her town so I can actually put my hands on one before I buy, they also carry best bottom and bg. So who knows what I will end up with! Thanks for all the input!

  • I think I remember someone saying that they turned their Thirsties AIO inside out (maybe partway through the drying process? can't remember) to help them dry a little faster.
  • THX AIO seems nice.  I havent used them yet though so i could be totally wrong.  They are waiting in my closet for baby girl :)
