I wrote about possibly having pre-eclampsia in the last FFFC and here is an update. I was kept at the hospital since thrusday night due to borderline high blood pressure and elevated liver enzymes as well as being dialated to 1 cm. We spent most of friday in limbo on what exactly was going on, seeing if I was dialating on my own or if my blood pressure would get bad enough I needed to be induced. I was woken up at 5am on saturday to say that they were starting pitocin to induce me because of my blood pressure while sleeping.
I started having stronger contractions but really nothing to complain about at around 9am, and they kept me on it until around midnight when I was checked and only at 3cm. They decided to hold off on the pitocin for an hour or two to clear my system and let me eat a real meal (I was on clear liquid diet only) and shower. We started back up at 2 and nothing happened. The pausing seemed to have stalled labor so they broke my water at around 11am. Contractions picked up a bit but I still wasn't progressing seemingly.
Contractions suddenly picked up at around 2:30 pm, I asked for pain meds around that time to help relax through the pain. Doc and I agreed on using a little bit of fentynal thinking that we would have hours until baby arrived with how things were going after seeing that I was still at 3 cm. Around 4:30 I suddenly could not stop vocalizing during contractions even with the meds.
After two contractions like that I called in the nurse who checked me and I was 8 cm so she called the doctor in. The doc was in after another two contractions and realized I had dilated the last 2 cm in the 5 minutes it took him to get there and it was push time.
I am lucky and only had to push through 6 contractions before she popped out screaming. Emma Kate was born at 5:23pm on August 3erd, weighing 5lb 3oz and messuring 16.8 inches long. She was healthy enough to do some skin to skin contact before having to go to the NICU, only because hospital policy is that babies under 35 weeks need to go and stay until they pass the 35 week gestation marker. I'm doing well, better than expected even.
TLDR Ended up having Pre-E, got induced, labor stalled at 3 cm and then jumped to 8 cm pretty much skipping the active labor phase. Emma was born healthy and screaming and I got to cuddle her before she went to the NICU for routine observation. Couldn't have asked for a happier ending to a rather crappy situation.
