Metformin Question

Hey all!

So last time when trying to conceive #1, I was on metformin for about a year (3 pills a day) until I was about 12 weeks pregnant.  Well my RE put me back on it for my FET in a couple of months and it's kicking my butt!  I don't remember this from the last time around.  I have a really bad stiff neck and shoulders, along with a daily headache/fatigue.  Did any go you ladies go back to metformin and have a different reaction the second time around?  I go back to my RE tomorrow for my pre-op regarding my operative hysterosopy this Thursday, but I thought I'd ask about the metformin here first.  TIA!

Re: Metformin Question

  • I just started it yesterday, so I'm not much help. I'm hoping not because the first time wasn't too horrible once I got use to it. Last time I was on the extended release and this time I'm on the regular. I hope you find some relief. Good luck tomorrow and I hope your pre-op goes well!

  • I just finished taking it second time around and I had more bowel issues. I do know if you get the generic brand vs name brand you are more likely to get symptoms. Or so my RE said. But name brand is quite more expensive.

  • I only did metformin with this pregnancy so I only have one experience. Are you tapering up slowly? That seemed to help me a lot I had lots of GI issues mostly. But tapering up your dose slowly really can help. If you are having lots of symptoms you could try cutting back and working your dose up again.
