my son is fussy today, only wants to be held while he sleeps.  Figured I'd try the wrap I got. He screamed like the dickens.  i am having such a hard time with this transition in my life. i like to be doingdoingdoing all the time.  Babywearing would help with that. How is the Ergo for use around the house? i also have that.

It can take awhile for babies to warm up to being worn. I think the recommendation is to try it the first few times when they're well rested and fed. Also they tend to really like you to be moving a lot especially as they first get settled down. Ime a wrap is way more comfortable than an ergo. How old is your baby and what are you wrapping with?

I liked the k'tan for the newborn stage. Not a ssc

@Rrrrrachel I have the Boba.  Baby is 12 days old. 

@MapleMe It's been very hard for me to make myself rest and not do things...I finally accepted some help this week after my bleeding picked up. Since I've been resting more it's gone down and I'm feeling better.  I feel like I"m going crazy being cooped up in the house and not able to do the things I could  before. Especially now with 2 children.  I used to wonder why people took little babies out when they were so young. Now I know, b/c we are going somewhere tonight for my sanity.  I think the Boba instructions are not great. I need more practice wrapping and to find better instructions, maybe a video or something.

What kind of wrap is it? When I first tried my Moby I made sure to wrap it first snugly before putting her in, and would bounce and sway while getting her in. Then once she was in I kept bouncing, walking around, and adjusting until we were both comfortable and calm. Lots of babies get cranky when they are being wrapped by novices just because they don't want to be patient while you are nervous or struggling to get it right, but practice can really help with that. It just seems counterintuitive to say, 'Hey let's try wrapping again and see how miserable it makes my baby today!' but really, practice and continual use makes a big difference.

Don't give up. DS has gone through phases where he hates being worn, and others when it is all he wants. Sometimes we will go for weeks and months at a time when really rely on our carrier. Then we have a dry spell when he just won't have it.

I put the wrap on first, then tried to put him in. He started screaming like crazy.  It's a Boba wrap. Granted, it was my first time wrapping it. I figured I will try again in a few days. Maybe practice with a large doll or something.

I would try wrapping it tighter than you think you need. I haven't ever used a boba, but I've heard it's even stretchier than the Moby. When wrapping at first, I used to make the wrap too loose because it looked like a baby wouldn't otherwise fit inside. 

Your son should be really snug against you and not sag at all. A lot of babies will complain and be unhappy if they aren't being supported correctly once they're in. Again, too, don't stand still while you're getting him in, or he will likely be unhappy about that too. Bounce, shush, pat his bum, anything to keep him calm while you're getting him in.

I'm with Meesh, when I first started wearing, I used a K'tan (and LOVED it!) for the tiny squish days. I also agree with ITK's advice. Being confident in your wrapping and getting the wrap really snug will help. Is your LO a snuggler in general? 

Also, as difficult as it is, try not to push yourself too much! Get out of the house, move a little, but go a little slower than you used to. I know it's maddening, but you need time to heal

It is so maddening! I don't remember being this antsy when I had my daughter and I had a c section then! He is very much a cuddler, which is why I thought he would like it.

Oh yeah, I agree with @AFwifelife ... having an activity immediately after wrapping (even if it's just walking around the house) can help too.Unless G2 just really wants to be held, she'll stay pretty fussy in the wrap if I'm not moving (at least until she gets settled in).

I also love the Ktan. We had to go to Target yesterday, so I put L (4 days old) in the Ktan. He loved it!

I am not sure how much older your first LO is, but would he/she be big Enough to play at one of those fast food play places? Then you get some outside time but it's easier than a wide-open playground. Our local library also has a great fenced children's garden that we're going to try to visit next week.
