Do I need a prenatal with DHA?

I am only 5 weeks and have been taking rainbow light prenatals. Should I take a separate DHA supplement or buy a new prenatal? Or just keep taking the same one I have?

I took one with my last pregnancy and I'm taking one with this one too. I am taking Nordic naturals prenatal DHA.

ETA: I take DHA and a separate prenatal.

  • I take One a Day women's prenatal. It is 2pills one multivitamin and one DHA. My dr told me last time that folic acid and DHA are important. These ones didn't make me sick last time so I'm sticking with them

  • I started with the One A Day (two pills) and switched to generic version so I can get them on sale at CVS.

  • I take the Natures Made prenatal with DHA already in it. I like to just take one pill.

  • I take a store brand PNV I was going to get the womens one a day I think but it was $20 vs $8. I compared all of the percentages of each vitamin and they were identical except for one which actually was higher on the store brand one by like 5% (not much but still) so I got those. It's two separate pills.

  • I take my DHA separate from my prenatal. I think most docs recommend DHA, so if it's not in your prenatal, you should consider a separate supplement.

  • I take target brand gummy prenatals/multi that has both DHA and folic acid ($8/bottle and it's usually in cartwheel & have an online coupon).  I take them at night before I go to bed (just like when I was on the pill) which helps avoid any upset tummy issues.
