Misoprostol

I'm due to be induced Sunday and was just wondering how many others were induced with misoprostol and what kind of experience you had. Thanks!!

I was induced on Thursday with only 2 doses I never needed pitocin. The contractions were pretty intense when they kicked in. I went from 70% effaced and 0 dilation to complete in 5 hours after the contractions kicked in. I was 6 days past due.

I was pleased overall with my experience.

    Good Luck

I was 41 weeks and doc decided to induce. Ended up with two doses of miso-couldn't do any more even though that was the original plan. The reasoning was that it worked well enough to bring on good steady 2-3 min apart contractions so no more meds allowed but it didn't ever dialate me any more than to a 5.
Contractions were not unbearable. We progressed to 5 so easily I was hopeful we wouldn't need pitocin but after 7 more hours of contractions with no progress we started pitocin and things went great from there.
Overall it was a great experience and I wouldn't change a thing.
    Eta: good luck!!
  • I was induced with miso- was 40+4, 1-2cm and 60%. I got my first dose at 8pm and was having regular contractions by 11pm. Wasn't able to get anymore doses due to the being regular and getting closer together. They were pretty intense but I didn't end up needing pit!! And delivered my little man at 7:48am!! I wish you the best of luck and hope you have a great labor and delivery!!! :)
  • I had two doses of miso and after 12 hours of labor only dilating me to 2cm. It got me to 4, and then they started pit. The miso contractions were easy compared to the pit! Not bad at all. Good luck!
