At the park yesterday, this woman let her son pee in the bushes on the playground right next to the swings. It's an area right in the middle of all the action. This is the second time I have seen this happen in a high traffic area so to speak. I obviously haven't gone through potty training yet but this child seemed closer to 4 or 5 and there are bathrooms nearby. At the very least, if it was an emergency, I would expect them to go somewhere a little more discrete. The same mom also had an unleashed dog on the playground. Dogs are not allowed on the playground at all. It's the second time I saw this. I was pretty annoyed and grossed out. What does j13 think of this?
I posted about this on a Sydney group that I belong too. I was ripped to shreds. Everyone was like who cars of kids pee in the park. It was so bad the moderator actually took my post down and apologized to me. I quit the group because people were vicious. Is it a cultural thing? Are Sydney sisters rude? Lol
I still think it was inappropriate and if it was an emergency should have been done away from where all the kids play. I really think it should have been avoided at all costs though. Many people posted boys will be boys etc. I think that's lame to hold boys to a different standard than girls. thoughts?
Re: Urinating in the park...
And with the dog, I would have said something to the lady about the dog. Most places have a law where the dog must be leashed. Does Sydney have a law like that? I'd be extremely concerned about safety and probably would have packed up and left. They can swear up and down that their dog is friendly but I don't trust dogs. We have a ton of them but they are never left alone with Grayson.
I don't think you are in the wrong with any of this. Maybe it's just a cultural difference? But I feel the same way you do.
We discourage "going" outside because I'm terrified we will have a Big Daddy situation at school

Yes there are laws about dogs on leashes here too. I've never said anything to the people who are disrespecting the law but rather left the park. Maybe I should nicely say something?
I've potty trained 2 boys, I'd rather them pee in a Bush or on a tree to avoid accidents.
They pee outside all the time at my IL's, granted is in the Middle of the woods.
I don't really see the big deal in it, you never know if he was potty training.
My husband and I were driving in Europe. We stopped at a rest stop on our way home, and a couple got out with their daughter. She was probably 4 or 5. They parked right in front of the restrooms. The dad went in, and the mom dropped her daughters pants and undies, bare butt, you could see the little girls vagina, and she held her daughter under Her knees in the air (like she was sitting) and in front of everyone the little girl peed. I thought, what in the world is this woman doing!? I'd never!! But then, I noticed everyone else that was around payed no mind to it. It was acceptable.
People driving down the freeway will stop on the side if the road and go, too. It's accepted there.
In America, this is so frowned upon. People get arrested for stuff like that. It's against the law!
Point is, it very well could be accepted there. Being an American yourself, you were probably taught differently.
I avoid confrontations at all costs, but I would definitely say something about the dog if I felt there was a safety concern. Personally, I wouldn't say anything about the peeing. I would just give an exaggerated raised eyebrow disgusted look.
