Re: Buying clothes in advance.....

  • It's hard to know, but if they get here in Jan., they will be 6 months in July, so presumably 3-6 would fit before July and 6-9 after. But you don't want to be buying two sizes of summer clothes. IIRC Carters fits a bit big, so maybe 3-6 would be ok.

There is no way to really know. My singleton girls were both only in the 5th percentile for the first three years of their lives - my oldest wore 0-3 until she was 9 months old... (she is now 12 and wears a 10 - her 7yr old sister is just now growing too tall for 5T in her pants and will probably still be in 5T shirts for another year). With my twins, they are in totally different percentiles - at 18mo old, Jamie wears 18mo smack dab on the dot, and Simon wears 2T. If you stick with separates, you can at least avoid them growing "too tall" for whatever you get, and the shirts at least can be layered with a jacket if they happen to fit during an off season :)

This might give you some idea - my guys were born January 23rd (due date was February 11). This picture was taken when they hit 7 months old, in August that year:

    image

Simon (the bigger dude) was wearing a size 6-9mo in those clothes and they fit him snuggly. Jamie's set was 3-6mo and they were a little baggy. They were both wearing size 2 shoes (though they were still pretty big on Jamie and a little tight on Simon).

  • like other said it depends- my boys were born in November- at 34 wks, weighing a little over 5 pounds each.. But by may/june many of their summer things were Carter's size 9 months. If it was a between size it was 6-12 or 6-9 months.  Now my guys are almost 4 and in 5T, I think we will still be in 5T for the fall/winter.
  • I stopped at the Carter's store last night on my way home from the big city :) (there isn't one where I live) and purchased 3 month clothes, mostly gender neutral. I live in Texas and we don't have the seasons like other states so I feel comfortable about buying onesies.
  • There is no way of knowing how big or small your babies will be next July.  My guys were 7lbs at birth.  At 14 months, one is in 12-18 month clothes, the other is in 3T.  At 6 months, Sam wore 6-9, but Ben was already in 18 month clothes.  I had a lot of cute outfits Ben never got to wear (but Sam had doubles).

  • Mine are smaller--in the third percentile. When clothes are on sale I buy the basics in the next sizes: we have a ton of jammies, tshirts, and pants in the coming sizes. If they will fit in winter, then layer with a jacket or another shirt.

This way throughout the year I can just buy a few cute outfits for special occasions and save a lot of money.

I have my boy/girl twins share a lot of their every day clothes so she is a tomboy. She has her own jammies and going out outfits, though.
  • Just wait
My triplets have been through preemie newborn 0-3 & 3 mo. They are just beginning 6 mo. 4.5 mo, 2 mo corrected.
My DD has been a 3T since she was 1.5 Yrs
Dont know many people whos kids measure right on for their age. All are ahead
