My son is 2.5 years old and has special needs. He is more like an 8 month old in most areas. He not mobile, cannot communicate and has a feeding tube (since 13 months old). We don't have a diagnosis and didn't know of issues until 6 months old. Looking back on things, I know there were red flags in the hospital. It took him a long time to suckle anything and his hands were tightly fisted (and stayed that way for over a year).
I'm 5 weeks pregnant now. Do you think I should be followed by a high risk doctor?
Bring up your concerns to your OB. Sometimes one child is affected by a disorder/disease but not other children. It also wouldn't hurt to do additional testing such as the genetic testing.
That being said only your care provider can say if you should be followed by a high risk OB. You can most certainly ask and see what they say.
Also if your son is followed by any specialists, they may have some suggestions for you as far as if you should be considered high risk, and see a specialist this pregnancy. That being said, best wishes to you!
Our family is growing by two feet and we couldn't be happier!
