Reactions to 2 month shots?

What effects, if any, did the 2 month shots seem to have on your LO? We have our appt this afternoon and I am trying to get an idea. I know I am a STM but this is so far gone from my mind now.

Re: Reactions to 2 month shots?

  • DS cried during but then slept for a couple hours. When he woke up he cried and screamed for the rest of the evening and his one leg was swollen a bit. He went to bed about two hours later than normal because he couldn't stop crying, but then he slept all night and most of the next day. He was back to normal the next day.

  • Very very sleepy, a low grade fever and a little fussier than usual. Good luck!

  • No fever here just a very sleepy baby the day of and the day after. The next day LO seemed to have one sore leg so we have him a dose of Tylenol. Day 2 he was back to his happy self. Our pedi said that the way they make the shots now there are very few bad reactions.

    Same!
  • Cried a little during the shots then slept for like 3 hours. Woke up screaming. Stopped as soon as the Tylenol kicked in and was back to normal the next day
  • Very sleepy that afternoon and night then the next day cranky as hell and rough sleep.

  • My baby ran a low fever for a day but was otherwise totally normal. DS1 got his shots and slept for nearly 16 hours straight when we got home. It was amazing.

  • Sleepy, no fever. Think I got lucky!

  • Sleepy and maybe a little fever. And maybe extra sspitting up but hard to tell as it varies day to day anyway. They told us to massage the leg around injection area for a while right after to reduce chance of her getting a bump or general swelling there which would make her uncomfortable so dh did that while I nursed her. She stopped crying pretty quickly after injection. She didn't seem to have any lingering pain in llegs and didn't swell or get bumps. Though maybe she wouldn't have even without massage? Also we split up shots - got the one that's dtap combined with two others three weeks ago along with rota (oral) and then the other two shots yesterday. I think after the 5-in-one she was fussier and then since yesterday's shots she has been sleepier. Don't know if difference is duedue to being three weeks older or is really reacting differently to the different vaccines. I also think she cried more with injection yesterday but again many variables

Cried some during shots, but not bad.  Extremely sleepy and a little fussy, and her legs hurt for 2 days - she did get a little swelling from the DTaP shot.  Tylenol was a lifesaver.

  • DS took an extra-long nap that afternoon but was otherwise fine.

DD just had hers last Tuesday morning. She was fussier than usual for the rest of the day, especially if anything bumped the leg that got the TDaP, but then slept 11 hours straight that night.

No big issues with either one of my kids, and certainly no complaints about the extra sleep!

Most kids do fine with all their shots. Statistically, serious reactions are rare. You just hear more about the bad experiences because the easy ones aren't worth mentioning. Nobody brags on Facebook that their kids are great shot takers.

  • Funny enough my little guy was happy and not sleepy. I think his legs were sore in the evening and the next day but with a little Tylenol he was fine.
  • My lo has been a hot mess ever since... she got hers 5 days ago! She had a low grade fever almost every day, fussier, hardly sleeps during the day now, and will randomly start screaming bloody murder when she is laying down playing. One minute she is happy and the next she is screaming. She also has been trying to flip out of her swing and bouncy seat so we strap her in now! She used to love her swing!
  • My baby didn't seem to have any reaction. She cried when she got her shots and then slept for a while before she was back to normal. I had bad reactions when I was a baby but clearly that's not hereditary.

  • Hope your little one is still doing OK. Ours had a sad new cry when we got her home but then she slept most of the day. She wimpered in her sleep a little but was actually pleasant that evening. No fever or too much leg soreness that I could tell.
  • No issues other than some initial fussiness.

  • DS was a little extra sleepy when we got home and he didn't sleep as well that night. He also had a temp over a little over 99. That's about it...

  • Well so far he has been acting perfectly normal. Definitely cried during the shots but has been eating and sleeping as normal...no fever and not really fussy either. Maybe they won't affect him too much.

    Our babu had his yesterday
Cried horribly in the office and car
Last night he was quiet and sleepy
He slept 8 hrs last night! I'll take it :)
Thankfully he has seemed to get through the shots okay...
  • Crying. Slept most if the day. Fever started at night for the last 12 hours. Still dealing with it.
