Not that you can't all chime in and yes, I know I'm insane for thinking about this but here goes.

Aiden's bday is in May and I was thinking that next year I might combine the parties and do something big like a traveling petting zoo.  It's not cheap and when I mentioned it to DH he said he thought we should do it the following year when Q is 3, thinking he'd appreciate it more.  But Aiden and his friends would then be 6 and I feel like they'd think it was lame.  I'm trying to think back to when Aiden was 2 and I think he would have liked it but maybe I'm just not remembering his interest level.  What do you guys think?

Ok and now I just found one that has miniature animals.  You guys, I'm ready to dip into the vaca fund to have a miniature fucking pony and a miniature mother fucking donkey in my own backyard!

I have a thing for miniature horses lol

DD is 6 and I just took her to a petting zoo last week. She loved it! I think either age would work though.

This is an excellent point.  Besides asking the vendor (because of course they'll say they're perfectly taken care of), how could I find out?  The one I'm looking at specifically hand raises the animals on a family farm and they base the number of attendants on the number of children to make sure the animals are safe.  They are USDA certified - does that honestly mean anything?  Is it really well regulated?

Last fall we took ds1 to a farm that had animals to pet. He had just turned 2 and LOVED it! And he did well around the animals too.
