My hair is almost always in a sock bun, and the few times I had my hair down, DD burst into crying. I didn't make the connection the first couple times, thought she was upset about something else. But I'm noticing this is getting more obvious. Like she'll stare at me for a while as I smile and talk to her normally, then a very sad crying. She doesn't have separation anxiety at all, she's totally fine at daycare and when my parents watch her sometimes. This is getting me worried as I have an appointment coming up for a makeover! I had planned on getting bangs cut and dying my hair completely different color (a subdued version of cherry coke). Now I'm not so sure. Never experienced this with my DS.
If your LO reacted to you changing hairstyle, how long did it take for her/him to get used to it? Right now, my DD basically cries and acts sad until I pull my hair back in a sock bun.
DH has hair that can get kind of wild. It is real nice and he gets curls if it's long enough but he wakes up with some seious bed head some days. DD will give him the side eye and you can tell she is looking at his hair lol then he cut it real short and she did look at it for a while but it didn't seem to bother her. And I cut 14 inches off of my hair when she was about 2 months old but she couldn't have cared less at that age.
I just got like 4 inches cut and dyed a lot blonder this past weekend and DD seemed unfazed by it. I guess it wasn't too drastic of a change?? I usually always wear my hair in a bun, but she also doesn't seem to mind when its down because she easier access to play with it and pull it.
DD seems to notice changes in my appearance (hair up vs. down, sunglasses, glasses), but more with interest than any distress. She'll look at me very intently but smiles and laughs easily and otherwise acts the same as normal.
I wouldn't let LO's reaction stop you from getting a makeover - go for it! DD will get used to it.
