E names

I like names that start with E (because my name starts with E). I'm kind of excited for the naming process, but so far I feel like I'm pulling names out of the dark... Opinions please!?

Girl: Eden Elexa/ellasyn - Elya Brynne - Elexa Marie - Esmerie Faith -Enya Jayne

Boy: Ethan Joshua - Everett Matthew - Emmett Kane

(Of course I have non-E names on the board)
Girl: Naomi Alexa - Alexa Jayne - Brynne Allison - Adynn Ashly - Sara/Cerra Lucine - Brie Alexa

Boy: Grant Lucas - Kent Gary - Jonah Matthew - Mason Connor

I don't mind Eden or Enya but not with Jane spelt Jayne, I like Enya Jane though. For boys I like Emmett Kane!

    Some suggestions:
    Ezra
    Estella

  • I don't like Alexa spelled with an E.  It looks made up to me.

Ella, Emily, Emmeline, Emmanuelle, Esme, Esmeralda, Emerald, Eloise, Etta, Ellen, Elle, Emery, Estefania,  Eliza, Elizabeth, Erika/Erica, Erin

The rest of them aren't great for girls.  The boy ones are all nice.

    Why not....

Ella, Eliza, Elise, Elizabeth, Esme,  Elaine, Etta, Estelle/Stella, Emily, Eleanora/Nora
I like Esme as a NN for Esmerie. What do you think? The others you mentioned: I know 4 Ella's (under 3yo), 6 Elizabeth's (all my age), 1 Eliza that made my life awful (her sisters Elyse and Elaine), and my cats name is Emily (probably shouldn't have done that). I do like Eleanor... But it seems old fashioned... Why don't you like Elexa? Just wondering :)

  • Most of those girl names look like smoosh or youneek names to me, and seem to especially clash with your more classic E names for a boy. There are plenty of beautiful E names out there for girls (excuse any repeats)

Ellen, Elaine, Elena (my fave), Eleanor, Emmeline, Emily, Emma, Emme, Esther, Estelle, Etta, Eve, Eva

The only reason I want to spell Jayne like that is because it's a great family friends name :) I think it looks a little weird, but she's an amazing woman, so I don't mind. Thanks for the feedback! Does Kane seem too out of place? What about Everett Kane?

Elexa is Alexa spelled wrong and I want to say Eeeeeeee-lexa when I read it. Your daughter will have a lifetime of correcting people.  I have never heard Esmerie and it doesn't come up on BTN. Do you have a source on this name? It sounds made up which is why I dislike it.

It's actually French for emerald, and it's a combination for Esmeralda and Marie. I found it on babynames.com and googled it afterward to find out more. And as for Elexa, I kind of like Eeeee-Lexa :) lol I like Eeeee-layna too :) but I know one already.

  • erka11erka11 member
Oh! And I found the name Elaxi... Which to me sounds way more made up than Elexa... Lol

    About 25%, why?

Well, the name is supposedly Sanskrit. Seems a little odd to use it if you have no ties to the culture, especially when it is a uncommon name.

I saw that. I agree. I could barely pronounce it. That's why I'm still stuck on Elexa. However it's said, it's pretty. And it's just a different spelling to a common name. I mean... People name their kids after fruit and colors every day...
  • I love Eden Jane (or Jayne for the reason you mentioned).

All of the boy names you listed are nice. My favorite is Everett Matthew. I'm not a big fan of Kane, but that's just a personal preference. I really like Grant Lucas too.

Edith (nn Edie) is one of my favorite names. I also like Eva, Eleanor, Etta, & Evangeline.

HUGE fan of Evangeline but there's a backstory to that one lol. I LOVE Everett Matthew so thanks for the back up! :) I think Edith is cute but it's my friends "saved" name. She's been I love with it for as long as I can remember.
  • I like Eden.

Does it have to make the "eeee" sound, or just start with E? One of my favorite boy names is Eamon.

Oh ok that makes sense then (Jayne)

I actually really like Kane for middle names, I don't think it's out of place at all, I also like Everett Kane!! Ezra Kane, Elliot Kane, Elijah Kane...I think a lot work with Kane!!

Haha I just realized I'm down to rhyming middle names. Kane and Jayne. I'm so boring! Lol. Thanks! Ezra Kane is awesome too! :)

Oh, boy...I will just leave this here:

Read it; understand it. But I'm a teacher. I live for invented spellings. And it's not wrong... He/she won't be tortured... And just I be clear... Every name is made up... All letters are made up in fact. I see the point, and I'm not dead set on "misspellings" but I don't think spelling things so that they look pretty is wrong :)

I'm not trying to argue. And please stop being rude. I asked for opinions. And all are appreciated, but do you really need to be snobby? I think not. Google invented spelling. Kids spell things the way they sound. And all names are invented. All combinations of letters are made up, because the fact is, some one, somewhere, made the letters that we know now... Letters haven't infinitely existed, and I know you're aware of it, but think about it. So I guess the way I'm thinking is: if it sounds the same, it really doesn't actually matter. I'm not raising my kids to make fun of others because of the way their names are spelled... And I hope you're not, because then you're just perpetuating the problem. I know plenty of people who's names have no meaning, or very odd meanings. Why is better for me to name my son something that means "son of blacksmith" when he's not the son of a blacksmith... Than naming him something that sounds good and looks good on paper. I mean... Who cares really. Just be positive. None of us need tagged blogs or rude gifs. I don't see why being rude is necessary. I hope no one is this rude to you. Sad.

Pretty much all of the girl names are really bad. Yikes. Eden is fine—NMS. Naomi and Sara are nice too.

Ellasyn?! Elexa?! Esmerie?! Adynn?! No, no, no, please no.

Your boy names are pretty good. Really like Emmett and Everett (love Everett).

GIRL names: Eliza, Esme, Elise, Eleanor, Edith/Edie, Evangeline, Eva, Esther, Eloise, Elsa, Evelyn, Emmanuelle, Elin, Enid

BOY names: Ellis, Ewan, Ezra, Enzo, Elliott, Ettiene, Eamonn, Evan, Edwin
The only one that I haven't found a rooted meaning for is Elexa. The rest are names... Old names... Traditional names... Cultured names... And seeing as people have those names, I certainly hope you don't say these things out loud. Be nice.

    Esmerie
(go with Esmerelda, then) and Elexa are not names. They look like you had a bad game of Scrabble. That and Elexa looks like a medication name (Celexa immediately came to mind).

    ETA: Correction

Esmerie is a name... And Elexa is a name, it's just not spelled the way you'd prefer. Google both. I'm apparently not the first looney on earth... :)

Yes. Use google, and search for invented spelling. It's interesting. Some education on the subject of letters and phonics can never hurt :)
(None of this is meant to be rude, just clarifying what I meant).

Oh... And if I were picking between emmanuelle and Elexa... For my daughter... That's not even a question. That little girl would not be a happy camper with a biblical boy-name. And if you really don't think boys named Ewan get ridiculed in grade school (ewwwww-an) then you should probably ask some one named Ewan.

I did look them all up. I found them in different books or on different websites. A lot of them are just old. I guess the reason I like the names I listed is because even if they're unique, they sound pretty. And they have meanings that I think are great. I like emmeline but I couldn't pick a middle name that sounded right to me... Not mention I can't handle anymore Emma's, em's, or emmy's :/

I think homer into the hedge is perfect for the entire baby name board at this point.

I'm with you. I was excited but it's crazy how demeaning this gets... And so quickly. I appreciate your positive feedback! It's refreshing. Stay positive. The thing is: I 100% respect and appreciate all feedback. However, I don't respect unnecessary additives. Opinions are opinions. There are nice ways to express them (as you did) and rude ways. And I refuse to take the advice of anyone rude. I'm not naming my kid because of the advice a rude lady on the internet gave me... I might, on the other hand, take the suggestions of people who choose to be polite about their disagreements. So thank you again!
  • I really like a PP's suggestion of Esmerelda. It's pretty and unique.

I like Ethan, Everett and Emmet but just to throw another "E" name at you, I love the name Ephraim.

You said you are a teacher, I'm not sure what you teach for let's just say for argument sake you are giving a spelling test. What if a child spells cat  K A T? What if they give the arguement that they are inventing a new spelling and it's just as right as spelling it C A T? You see, it's the same with names. I think it's wonderful you don't judge people based on their names, but a lot of people do. You may feel some of the people on this board are judgmental, but those well educated "judgmental" people just may be the ones passing up your daughter for a job in favor of someone whose name is spelled correctly.

    As for E suggestions:

Girls: Evangeline (my favorite girl E name), Elinor, Eliana, Evelyn, Emmeline

Boys: Elijah (my DS), Elias, Enoch, Ezra, Ephraim, Eric, Ezekiel, Eric
