I balance my checkbook every couple of months and I cannot tell you how maddening it is when I'm ONE penny off. I will sit there and scour my spreadsheet and compare it to my checking account to figure it out.
And I don't really budget out my money to specific things. I just know that after I pay my bills and put money in savings/IRAs, I have $X and that is what I can spend for those 2 weeks.
I LOVE spreadsheets. I used to have amazing budget spreadsheets and debt paydown spreadsheets but I lost them when I changed computers a few years ago. Now I'm old school on a yellow legal pad. I would give anything to have my spreadsheets back though.
TTC since August 2011, Me = 40, DH = 38 Unexplained IF. Tried Clomid for 3 cycles. All BFNs. BFP 1/6/13. Chemical pregnancy.
Moving on to IVF#1. ER 11/26/13, 16 eggs retreived, 12 mature and all fertilized. 2 blasts transferred on 12/1. All other embies arrested so nothing left to freeze. Beta 12/10 = BFN. IVF #2 March 2014. BFP!!! TEAM BLUE!!!

If that happened to me, I would lose it. Like seriously lose it.
I don't know if I could start over. It would be really hard.
@Dragonblood13 that's why I haven't started over. I had to work though all the stages of grief after I lost everything. Then I just grabbed a notepad so I'd have something to keep track of finances. Someday I'll have an amazing spreadsheet again. SOMEDAY!!!!! ::shakes fist::

I love spreadsheets too! I have 10 of them open right now!
For work, I could not live without pivot tables.
For home, I love doing my debt paydowns and mortgage payoff and 401k calculations.
I think my 401k formula calculations are my favorite, where I can edit different rates of return and update my salary/contribution each year (optimistic) and then play with how much annual income we could live on after retirement and how long we would live to still keep some balance.
TTC#1 since May 2012. Low AMH, High FSH. Factor II (Prothrombin) Mutation TTGP Award Best PIP 2013 & 2014
I stopped using spreadsheets for our expenses after I discovered Mint. I do however have spreadsheets for our TV channels (we don't pay for cable but still get cable with scrambled channels), the TV shows I watch with separate tabs for Summer and Fall. I also have a spreadsheet for addresses ad another one for all pur cloth diapers
Re: SPREADSHEETS
ETA: shit I'm on a Mac. Can you do spreadsheets on a Mac?
