39 week check up

I  am 39w 1d and had my appt. today.  I am a "loose" centimeter and soft.  what does "Loose" mean?  I should have asked.  She also, as she stated, "stirred things up" (it was very uncomfortable).  Does that mean strip membranes?  I am so tired that I didn't ask many questions....I am scheduled for induction Thursday morning due to Gestational Diabetes but curious what her "wording" meant.

Obviously, I'm not your doctor, but from her wording, I believe you have nothing to be concerned about. A loose centimeter could mean you're slightly over or under 1 cm dilated. As far as "stirred things up," this is far less nefarious than it sounds. Every exam at this point can cause some minor spotting and such as our membranes are relaxing and softening. At my most recent, 38 week check-up, my doctor's probe caused some of my mucus plug to dislodge. Nothing serious! I hope your induction goes well! Good luck!
