So with DS my due date was moved 8 days forward because my doctor told me I ovulate late. This was 3 years ago. H and I have been ttc for 3 months now. I have done the OPK's in this time. This month is the first month I continued to test late and found I finally got a surge on CD25. I imagine this means I O'd on the 27th. This is right on track with how things happened with DS. I had a successful pregnancy at that time, but the more I really read about what it means with late O'ing the more I worry with this one. DS wasnt planned so that I'm trying and really wanting another baby asap, its nerve wrecking. Anyone else in the same boat? I keep reading Late ovulation causes a "bad egg" and if I am set to start Aug 5 (32 days cycles) I worry its not enough time for it to implant. I just dont want DS to be a miracle and not being able to have another. I know its in God's time, but I wonder how common this is.
Re: Late ovulation?
People ovulate on different days. It's never "late" as it's rare that anyone ovulates on the exact same day every month.
What you are reading about as "late ovulation" and it being more difficult to get pregnant is probably actually a just short LP (the time between your ovulation and your period). An egg needs 7-10 days to implant, so if your LPs are regularly less than 10 days, it will make it more difficult to get pregnant.
FYI OPKs only predict ovulation, they do not confirm it. You should start tracking BBT so that you will actually know when you ovulated. Day 25 isn't bad at all. I have ovulated on days 20 and 19 my last two cycles. Your cycles are likely just longer than the "standard" 28 day cycle.
If you start confirming you ovulation using BBT for a few cycles and notice that you've had 3 straight cycles with less than 10 day LPs, i'd suggest calling your doctor. But you are perfectly capable of getting pregnant...it's already happened once, after all.

Read the newbie blog.
OPKs test for a hormone that appears in urine when the ovary is ramping up to release an egg. Some women can never turn an OPK positive, but they still ovulate. Some women will get multiple batches of positive OPKs in one cycle even though they only ovulate once. Some women see positives on one brand of OPK but not on others. A positive OPK just tells you that at SOME POINT in the next 48 hours you MIGHT ovulate...it doesn't necessarily mean that you did.
If you were tracking BBT you would see clear sustained higher temperatures after ovulation through the end of yoyr LP, and then they would drop again when you got your period (or stay high if you are pregnant).
Your LP can vary by a few days each month, so just because your cycle is always 32 days doesn't mean that you always ovulate on the same day each cycle. again, all of this information can be found in the newbie blog link at the top of this board. read it.
I've not heard about bad eggs being produced by O'ing late, there are many medical reasons why someone would be producing "bad eggs".
Best of luck to you, as long as you're ovulating, you can get pregnant.
