Missing out...

My mom watched DS this morning while my husband and I were at work and she texted me excitedly that DS rolled over from his belly to his back! This was his first time rolling over. I couldn't help but tear up a bit at my desk, I'm so sad that I missed it. Anyone else in the same boat? I recognize the fact that I'll have to sacrifice experiencing some of these moments being a working mom, but I just really hope I don't miss too many of his "firsts".

I know it's really hard to know you've missed something. One thing I like about our daycare is that they will never tell us when our children meet a milestone. I like it that I feel like it's his first with us, even though I know I am sure there are some moments that aren't truly his first. Maybe ask her not to tell you if you think that approach would help? Hugs!! Babies growing and changing can be bittersweet!

I would ask her not to tell you stuff like that so that you can experience the firsts. Our daycare doesn't tell us and I prefer it that way. I obviously know that the firsts don't always happen with me but I still get the chance to see it for myself and experience it like it just happened.

That's awesome that your daycare does that! I don't blame my mom for telling me, I think she was just so excited. My dad was with her when it happened and he kept telling her not to tell me haha, but she did anyways - and she def. felt bad after I reacted to the news. But oh well! I guess I should just be excited that he reached the milestone. Now I know that he can roll over, and I'll be excited for when he does do it for DH and I.

This is the exact reason why I start to tear up at the thought of going back to work. Although I really like my job, I wish that I could be a SAHM at least till LO goes into first grade.  (

Oh of course she didn't mean to tell you and upset you, I bet she was super excited. It's just hard when you feel like you are missing out and everyone else gets to witness this stuff seemingly before you.
