I ordered the LLBean backpack. It arrived while I was away at a conference and my son was at the beach with my parents. My son got home and opened it, and it's less "girly" in person than it seemed to be in the pictures. When you don't have other thumbnail photos of backpacks to compare it to, it just looks like a blue backpack with an abstract pattern on it.
My son is really happy that he got this one instead of the plain navy one. It'll be interesting to see if any other kids comment once the school year starts.
So glad to hear that he's happy with his choice! I still think it's awesome that he had the confidence to go with it even with the risk of being teased.
