Load size/ enough water?

My new-to-me old top loader only has two load sizes. Small and large. I wash M,W, F. I have been using the small setting on fri and wed, and the large on mon when I have an extra day worth of diapers. But I wonder if the small setting is getting enough water in there, or if it is better because they agitate more.
On the large setting the washer is FULL of water, but on the small it is less than half. I wish there were a medium setting. On the small the diapers are just barely covered with water, but on the large they are almost floating around so much I am worried there is not enough agitation.

What does the right load size look like on your top loader? Are the diapers just barely covered with water, or is there lots of room for them to move in the water?

Re: Load size/ enough water?

  • Can you just add more water with a bucket if you need to?
  • Loading the player...
  • Best answer I've ever heard -- " you want diaper stew, not diaper soup" Can you add more stuff? I toss all of our underwear in there if I need more stuff. Or some socks or maybe a towel.
LOL diaper stew. That makes sense though.

I think I will just try adding more water to the small load. My laundry sink is right next to the washer, and it has a hose, so should be super easy.
