I used 400-500 newborn - my girls were born 4.3 and 4.7 lbs. They are almost 4 months now and we are still on size 1. I had about 1200 of those. Once I finish the size 1 I have 1200 of size 2. I just started buying size 3 now. My singleton never wore a bigger size than size 3 so I am not buying any bigger sizes than 3 for now.
We usually changed before every feeding plus any poops along the way. Figure on 8-10 feeds per day in the beginning, so you're looking around 20-24 per day.
I always caution against stocking up ahead of time if you can't return. My kids have sensitive bums and can only use pampers baby dry. We also can't use wipes, just wet paper towels.
I honestly forget how long they were in each size. We just sized up to size 4 around a year - they are 20lbs and 22lbs.
